Itinerary
Visit the Sachsenhausen Memorial with an expert guide and learn about one of the most important and sobering chapters of German history.

Join our award-winning guided tour to the Sachsenhausen Memorial, one of the most significant former concentration camp sites in Nazi Germany. This powerful and educational visit offers essential insight into the mechanisms of Nazi terror and the experiences of those imprisoned here.

Your journey begins in central Berlin, where you will meet your expert guide before travelling together by train to the town of Oranienburg, just outside the city. From there, a short walk leads to the Sachsenhausen Memorial Site.

Built in 1936 by the SS, Sachsenhausen was designed as a model camp and served as the administrative centre for the entire concentration camp system. From here, the Concentration Camp Inspectorate oversaw more than 30 main camps and over 1,000 satellite camps across Nazi-controlled Europe.

During the guided tour, your guide will lead you through the former camp grounds while explaining the structure of the Nazi camp system, daily life for prisoners, and the brutal conditions they endured. You will learn about the persecution of political opponents, Jews, Roma and Sinti, Soviet prisoners of war, homosexuals, and many others targeted by the Nazi regime.

The tour also explores the final months of the war, including the Death Marches of 1945, when thousands of prisoners were forced to march away from the camp as the Soviet army approached. You will also learn about Sachsenhausen's post-war history, when the site was used by the Soviet NKVD as a special internment camp.

Throughout the visit, your guide will share powerful personal stories of prisoners — including acts of resistance, survival, and solidarity in the face of unimaginable hardship.

Following the tour, your guide will accompany the group back to Berlin.
