Itinerary
This insider sake experience is for travelers who want more than just a quick tasting.
If you enjoy sake but aren't sure what to order, this expert-guided experience will give you the confidence to choose and enjoy it anywhere in Japan.

Meet your local sake expert and explore Kyoto's Fushimi Sake District, one of Japan's most famous sake-producing areas. During the experience, you'll visit the Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum, where you'll learn the essentials of sake brewing and what actually matters for understanding flavor and style. If the museum is unexpectedly closed, the visit may take place at another historic brewery in Fushimi.

After the brewery visit, you'll take part in a guided sake tasting session. You'll taste and compare different sake styles—from dry and crisp to fruity and rich—while learning how these differences are created and how to recognize what you personally enjoy.

A key part of the experience is learning how to enjoy sake with food. You'll taste sake paired with Japanese otsumami and discover how pairing can change aroma and flavor. You'll also receive practical tips on enjoying sake in Japan, including when to drink sake hot or cold and which types of sake pair best with sushi.
