Reviews: From Takayama: Shinhotaka Ropeway and Kamikochi tour
Guest User2025-11-08
The transportation to the Shinhotaka Ropeway and Kamikochi was perfectly arranged. The guide was very friendly and had interesting facts about both Takayama and Kamikochi. It was a great way to admire both. The bus journey itself takes you through beautiful scenery, with several stops to, for example, get lunch and enjoy the surroundings.

Our tour leader, Xiao Xi, was also fantastic! She organized everything meticulously, provided detailed explanations, and was incredibly polite. Takayama City Half-Day Tour, April 8th | Morning Market Fireworks, Tranquil Hachiman Shrine, Cherry Blossoms Along the River 🌸 Come to Takayama for this limited-time springtime experience that's gentle to the core. Start at the bustling Miyagawa Morning Market, where fresh fruits and vegetables, Hida snacks, and handmade crafts create a vibrant, down-to-earth atmosphere that soothes the soul. Slowly walk to Sakurayama Hachiman Shrine. The stone steps are serene, ancient trees reach for the sky, and a gentle breeze sends cherry blossoms fluttering down, so quiet you can only hear your own footsteps. Descend the mountain and walk along the Miyagawa River. Cherry blossoms drift on the water, landing on your shoulders. No need to rush, no need to run; just stand in the wind and watch a natural cherry blossom snowfall. This is what Takayama should be like: slow, quiet, beautiful, and uncrowded. 📍Takayama City|Miyagawa Morning Market · Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine · Miyagawa Riverbank 🌸Shirakawa-go Half-Day Trip|Encountering 300-Year-Old Gassho-zukuri Houses, Snow-capped Mountains and Cherry Blossoms – A Poetic Experience On a sunny day with a warm breeze, a half-day in Shirakawa-go is a gentle way to bring a fairytale to life.✨ The weather was perfect, with few tourists, allowing for a truly immersive experience of tranquility. The mountains on both sides were covered in a thin layer of snow, their peaks reflecting the blue sky, creating a cool yet gentle border around the land. Strolling along the paths, your feet are on a soft carpet of grass and fallen blossoms, and looking up, you'll be greeted by a profusion of cherry blossoms in full bloom. Pink and white petals dance in the breeze, landing on your shoulders and the wooden path, filling the air with a delicate fragrance. The most stunning sight is the 300-year-old Gassho-zukuri houses. Their pointed roofs resemble hands clasped in prayer, simple yet solemn, quietly telling tales of bygone eras. Stepping inside, the warm, rustic wooden structure and exquisite mortise and tenon joints create an atmosphere reminiscent of a traditional Dong village, where the familiar charm of traditional Eastern architecture washes over you. No need to rush, no need to seek crowds. Simply bask in the spring sunshine of Shirakawa-go, watching cherry blossoms fall on the gassho-zukuri houses, listening to the wind rustling through the wooden windows, and quietly treasuring this uniquely springtime healing and poetic feeling in your heart. 🌸🏔️ #ShirakawagoTravel #SpringTripToJapan #GasshoHouseCheckIn

All the places are great to explore and really nice. Just my opinion, the tour guide should wait for all of us to get down from the bus first then he can started to explain about the place not when we reach down to him, he is done. And we arrived shirakawago around 3:15pm and the last shuttle bus around 3:40pm to observatory. So it is not enough time as we need to walk a bit to a pickup point for shuttle bus. All the three places are so crowded but still nice to explore

Our tour guide, Liu, proactively added us to the group chat the day before the trip to remind us of important travel tips, which was very thoughtful. The 8:20 AM meeting point was perfect; we were comfortable sleeping and eating on the bus throughout the journey. Before arriving at each attraction, the guide gently woke us up and provided a bilingual (Chinese/Japanese) introduction to the key points of the visit, making it a hassle-free tour. I was delighted to experience my first and second snowfalls with my child in the Takayama and Gassho-zukuri villages, but unfortunately, the rain and snow made it incredibly cold, limiting the number of beautiful photos we could take.
