Itinerary
Our day-long trip begins with a morning pick-up in Reykjavik at 8 a.m.

Kerlingarfjöll is a volcanic mountain range located in the central part of Iceland. It is an extreme paradise filled with steaming geothermal valleys, gushing glacial rivers, and amazing panoramic views.

We'll first stop at Gullfoss for a quick rest stop before moving from paved road to the highland mountain roads. Along the way, you'll be treated with views of the vast and black highland desert, glacial lagoons before arriving at the mountainous oasis of Kerlingarfjöll.

Our first stop in this region will be The Highland Base, located in the Ásgarður Valley, right at the edge of Kerlingarfjöll to stop and stretch our legs. Here you'll have the opportunity to purchase some snacks or lunch.

The jewel in the crown of Kerlingarfjöll is the Hveradalir valley, a truly iconic and beautiful landscape waiting to be explored. Hveradalir, meaning ‘the Valley of the Hot Springs,' reflects its name by being one of the largest geothermal valleys in the country.

The site is surrounded by the rhyolite mountains of the Kerlingarfjoll range, making for some spectacular and colorful surroundings and excellent hiking opportunities. Some of these natural hot springs are so powerful that they should only be admired from a safe distance.

We'll spend some time exploring the area and drinking in the views before heading back to Reykjavík for an evening arrival. Please note that the duration of the hike is dependent on the trail and weather conditions but we will typically aim to hike for approximately 2 hours.
