Itinerary
Your knowledgeable guide will meet you at the Octagon, outside the Dunedin Visitor Centre, before you set off in a comfortable minibus to explore the breathtaking scenery of the Otago Peninsula.

The journey takes you along Highcliff Road and through Hooper's Inlet, a paradise for wading birds at low tide. Keep an eye out for black swans, pūkeko, stilts, paradise shell ducks, oyster catchers, white-faced herons, and more. Along the way, you'll hear stories about the peninsula's history and learn about its unique wildlife.

At Taiaroa Head, you'll stop near the albatross colony. On windy days, you may be lucky enough to see these magnificent seabirds gliding effortlessly overhead. Please note that the Albatross Centre café is usually closed in the evening, so we recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks as there are no food options until your return to the city.

The highlight of the evening is a 1.5-hour guided tour to see the world's smallest penguins—the Little Blue Penguins. this experience will start with a talk about penguins and then you'll walk down to a special viewing deck on the beach and watch as they return to shore in small groups after a day at sea. Please be aware that this experience involves walking down a hill and back up again, so a reasonable level of mobility is required.

Since it can get chilly later in the evening, we recommend dressing warmly to fully enjoy your experience—it's much more comfortable to stand on the beach when you're cozy and warm!
We always have a few warm jackets available to borrow if anyone forgets to bring one. Just ask our tour guide.

After the tour, your guide will drop you off at your accommodation in Dunedin.
