Your adventure begins with a morning pickup in Reykjavík. As we leave the city, we journey through moss-covered lava fields and rolling farmlands. Relax and enjoy the scenic drive in our comfortable minibus with Wi-Fi on board.
Our first stop is the charming town of Hvolsvöllur, where you can stretch your legs, use the facilities, and grab a few snacks for the road ahead.
Our first major highlight is the mighty Skógafoss Waterfall. Feel the raw power of the water as it plunges into the pool below, often creating vibrant rainbows in the mist. You'll have 45 minutes to capture the perfect photo or climb the 527 steps to the observation deck for a breathtaking view of the coastline.
Next, we visit the world-renowned Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. This is a place of haunting beauty, where the Atlantic waves crash against jet-black sands and towering hexagonal basalt columns. You will have 50 minutes here to explore the sea caves, admire the Reynisdrangar rock needles, and enjoy your lunch.
We then head into the vast, lunar-like desert of Sólheimasandur to see the famous DC-3 Navy plane wreck. To save you the long walk, you will board a convenient shuttle bus that takes you directly to the haunting white fuselage resting against the dark sand. After exploring this iconic photography spot, the shuttle will bring you back to our waiting coach.
The journey continues to the majestic Dyrhólaey cliffs. During our 30-minute stop, you can gaze out at the massive stone archway carved by the sea and enjoy panoramic views of the endless black coastline stretching toward the horizon. This is a popular spot for puffins from May to mid-August.
Next, we visit Sólheimajökull. You will have 50 minutes to use the restroom and walk around the glacier lagoon, where you can witness the striking contrast of blue ice and black volcanic ash. Please note: This stop is for viewing the glacier and lagoon; no glacier hike or walking on the ice is included.
Our final stop is the enchanting Seljalandsfoss. This unique waterfall allows you to follow a path that leads directly behind the cascading curtain of water for a truly magical perspective. It is the perfect way to end our sightseeing before we begin our relaxing drive back to Reykjavík.
