Hiking from La Spezia town centre to the Cinque Terre

Leaving form the central Piazza Verdi, you will climb up along the historical walls of the town, reaching the ancient Pieve of Marinasco. Enjoy the beautiful view of the Gulf of La Spezia.

The tour will continue toward the villages of Castè and Carpena walking on old trails through chestnut woods.

In the characteristic village of Castè you will visit a small cave populated by newts.

Above Castè is placed the village of Carpena, here you will see the ruins of an old castle. Nowadays Carpena is a small village but it had a focal role in La Spezia's history as in the XIII century its habitats descended to the gulf and founded the town.

You will leave the village of Carpena and reach the trail "Alta Via delle Cinque Terre". Here you can fill your eyes with the view of the Cinque Terre coast from the top of the mountains.

Then, descend to the village of Manarola, among vineyards, dry-stone walls, and breathtaking sights.

At arrival, it is possible to have a little "aperitivo" or wine tasting in one of the wineries based in the village.

After a tour of the village of Manarola, you will take the train to return to La Spezia.

In La Spezia, a short walk in the town centre will take you be back to Piazza Verdi.
