Itinerary
Step into a winter wonderland on a private snowshoeing excursion in the breathtaking Oulanka National Park! This adventure takes you to the park's most stunning spots—frozen rivers, snow-covered forests, and the mesmerising icy rapids of Myllykoski, Aallokkokoski, and Jyrävä.

Equipped with snowshoes or light crampons—depending on snow conditions—you'll follow scenic trails through peaceful taiga forest. Your guide will take you to the best viewpoints to admire frozen waterfalls, snowy trees, and the powerful contrast between silence and the rushing river. It's the kind of place where time slows down and nature takes center stage.

This walk is all about taking it slow and soaking it in. The trail is moderately easy and suitable for anyone comfortable walking 4–8 kilometers. There are some stairs and uneven ground, but we adjust the pace and distance to your group's preferences.

Halfway through the tour, we'll settle down by a campfire in a sheltered spot. Here, your guide will make pancakes/crepes over the open fire—crispy edges, soft center—and serve them with warm wildberry juice.

What's included in your experience: You'll get all the necessary gear: snowshoes or light crampons (depending on the weather) and poles. The campfire snack includes pancakes (crepes) and hot wildberry juice—please inform us in advance about any dietary needs. As a small thank you to nature, we plant one tree for every fire we make.

Transfers from Ruka village or Kuusamo center are included, or you can meet your guide directly at the starting point.

What to bring: Dress warmly in outdoor winter clothing and wear sturdy winter boots. If you need to rent clothing, just ask in advance. Bring a small backpack, some extra layers for breaks, and maybe something to drink or a snack for yourself.

Tour details: The walk lasts 2,5–3 hours plus transfers. We usually cover 4–8 kilometers, depending on trail conditions and your wishes. It's a moderate route, with some stairs, designed for comfort and maximum scenery.

Join us for a peaceful, photogenic, and pancake-filled winter adventure in one of Finland's most beautiful national parks.
