Taumarunui: Forgotten World Rail Cart Tour with Lunch

Embark on a rail cart adventure from Okahukura to Tokirima and back. Cruise through the Forgotten World Railway, traveling through 10 tunnels, including the longest tunnel (1.5 km), and marvel at the impressive hand-built brick tunnels.

After checking in at the Forgotten World Motel in Taumarunui, shuttle out to your waiting rail cart at Okahukura, 10 minutes away from the base. Set off down the line along 40 km of the Forgotten World Railway.

Enjoy cruising through spectacular hill country farms and native bush at a leisurely pace. A quaint rail-side picnic lunch and home-baking will be waiting upon your arrival at Tokirima, after which you will board your return shuttle.

On your return journey, have the opportunity to visit Lauren's Lavender Farm in its stunningly beautiful countryside setting. Breathe in the relaxing aromas of the lavender fields on the banks of the Whanganui River and browse the gift shop's wondrous lavender products.

Purchase hot and cold drinks and warm scones/muffins etc. Board the shuttle to return to the Forgotten World Motel.
