Itinerary
On this tour, you will have the opportunity to visit two extraordinary destinations in southern Italy, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Alberobello and Matera. This experience is designed to allow you to truly experience the places, with a balanced schedule and no rushed visits.

The tour begins with an assisted check-in process, handled by a local Apulian team who will be on hand to welcome you and provide you with all the information you need to enjoy a smooth and well-organized day.

Alberobello

The first stop is Alberobello, world-famous for its iconic trulli. You will be welcomed by a knowledgeable local guide, who will take you on a fascinating guided tour to discover the historical and cultural significance of the place. Through stories and interesting facts, you will get to know the historic districts of Rione Monti and Aia Piccola, admiring the trulli, the techniques used to build them, the mysterious symbols painted on their roofs, and the ancient traditions that still shape life in the town today.

As you stroll through the historic districts of Rione Monti and Aia Piccola, you will be able to see iconic landmarks such as the Trullo Sovrano and the Chiesa di Sant'Antonio. Declared a World Heritage Site in 1996, Alberobello is an outstanding example of vernacular architecture, captivating visitors with its authentic and timeless atmosphere.

You will have ample and well-balanced time for your visit: you can explore the town at your leisure, visit artisan workshops, have lunch, or simply soak up the atmosphere. There will also be a tasting of typical local products, such as sweet and/or savory taralli, amaro liqueurs, and/or wines, to help you discover the authentic flavors of Puglia.

Matera

The tour continues to Matera, one of the oldest cities in the world, famous for its Sassi, ancient cave dwellings carved into the rock. Here, you will be accompanied by an expert, qualified local guide, who will take you on a tour of the Sasso Caveoso and the Sasso Barisano, sharing with you the city's millennia-old history and its extraordinary journey of rebirth, which culminated in it being named a European Capital of Culture in 2019.

During your visit, you will be able to enter some of the Rupestrian churches, such as the Church of Santa Maria de Idris, and you will have the opportunity to visit a house-museum (optional entry, additional €2.50) to learn about how people lived in the Sassi until the 1950s.

In Matera, too, the guided tour is always balanced with free time for you to explore the narrow streets on your own, take photographs, have lunch, or enjoy the city at your own pace before your return trip.

This tour is the Apulia Smart Tour: Apulia because it was conceived and created by people from Puglia who are deeply familiar with the region; Smart because it blends innovation and tradition, combining qualified guides, organizational support, and carefully planned schedules; Tour because it doesn't just connect stops, but allows you to enjoy the best experiences, giving meaning to the entire day.

An authentic and smart way to discover Southern Italy.
