Can Gio Monkey Island & Mangrove Forest Day Tour from Ho Chi Minh City
At 7:30 AM, our friendly tour guide will pick you up at our office at 243 De Tham Street, District 1, or directly from your hotel (centrally located in District 1). We then depart Ho Chi Minh City for Can Gio, a UNESCO-recognized biosphere reserve also known as Monkey Island.
Upon arrival, explore the lush mangrove forest, home to more than 1,000 wild monkeys. Watch them roam freely, feed them, and capture memorable photos as they play around you—sometimes even climbing onto your shoulders. This is a unique chance to experience wildlife up close in a natural setting.
Continue with a short walk to the crocodile conservation area, where local residents preserve large crocodiles dating back to the American War period. Here, you may try the exciting activity of “crocodile fishing” (optional and at your own expense).
Next, take a speedboat ride through the mangrove waterways to visit the historic Sac Guerrilla Camp, hidden deep in the jungle. Once a strategic military base during the Vietnam War, the site is now a fascinating historical attraction that offers insight into guerrilla life and survival in harsh jungle conditions.
After the visit, enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, featuring regional flavors. In the afternoon, spend free time at a local seafood market, where you can browse a wide variety of fresh and dried seafood such as octopus, lobster, rays, and more.
You may also relax and swim at Can Gio Resort, located next to the market, or take a leisurely walk along the beach and enjoy the peaceful coastal atmosphere.
In the late afternoon, we return to Ho Chi Minh City, concluding the tour at approximately 5:30 PM.
This tour is perfect for travelers seeking a blend of nature, wildlife, history, and local culture, all within a day trip from the city.
