Hiking at Churup Lake

Embark on a guided hike to the Churup Lagoon from Huaraz. Admire the stunning views of the snow-capped peaks of the Huascarán National Park and enjoy free time to relax by the lagoon.

Leave Huaraz in a comfortable vehicle, passing through picturesque Andean villages until you reach Pitec, located at 3,850 meters above sea level. From this point, enjoy stunning views of prominent snow-capped peaks of the Huascarán National Park, such as Vallunaraju, Ocshapalca, Ranrapalca, Rimarima, San Juan, and Churup, your final destination.

Begin the hiking route ascending the ridge from Pitec. During the two-hour walk, encounter steep slopes where the use of ropes will be necessary to facilitate the ascent. However, your guide will be present to provide assistance.

Once you reach the Churup Lagoon, located at the foot of the snow-capped peak of the same name, have free time to admire the views and relax in the surroundings. Afterward, return to Pitec to board the minibus that will take you back to Huaraz.
