Our journey begins in the iconic Cinelândia, a vibrant area filled with buildings from the early 20th century. Be captivated by grand façades, elegant columns, and decorative details that reflect a time when Paris was the city's greatest architectural and political influence.
Next, we will take a walk to the Church of Santa Luzia and along the Esplanade of the Castle, until we reach a true landmark of Brazilian design: the Gustavo Capanema Building, completed in the 1940s. This was the first fully modernist building in Brazil. Take a closer look at how modernist principles—such as pilotis, brise-soleil, clean lines, and open spaces—were adapted to Brazil's tropical climate, with gardens designed by the legendary Roberto Burle Marx.
We conclude the tour at the stunning Museum of Modern Art (MAM), designed in the 1950s by architect Affonso Eduardo Reidy. Located on the edge of Guanabara Bay, this iconic building represents the maturity of Brazilian modernism: bold, functional, and beautifully integrated with nature.
