Set off on a boat trip to the Los Pingüinos Natural Monument, located 35 km northwest of Punta Arenas, in the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region. Journey through the Strait of Magellan and spend time on Magdalena Island, home to thousands of Magellanic penguins.

Magdalena Island is home to thousands of Magellanic penguins, and offers an unique opportunity to observe these birds in their natural habitat during their breeding season. Observe kelp gulls, cormorants, Chilean skuas, and other bird species that inhabit the island.

At the southeastern side of Magdalena, find Marta Island, home to South American sea lions. The vegetation on the island is sparse; however, in areas free from penguins and other birds, some grasses have taken root.
