Reviews: Hokkaido, Japan: Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival + Noboribetsu Hell Valley + Lake Toya Day Tour

Our tour guide, Andy, was friendly and helpful, and his itinerary was engaging. He provided helpful reminders for each member of the group upon boarding and disembarking, such as meeting times and must-eat and must-buy items. The entire trip was very relaxing and offered great value for money. Highly recommended for those who don't have a car. Private transportation saved us time and money. The bus was comfortable, and the driver's skills were excellent. Especially recommended for families with children, as it eliminates the hassle of transportation.

I joined the tour on November 15th. The bus was almost full, with people from many different countries in the group, but it was always our compatriots who were late. Sigh. Our tour guide, Vivi, was very good. She had to speak the exact same thing in three languages, which must have been quite tiring. The stops at each attraction were short. It was pretty much a quick visit, but there was no other way, as it was too far and time was tight. The weather was so-so this time, mostly overcast, but during a brief break in the sunshine, I saw half of Mount Yotei and immediately took a picture.

For lunch at Lake Toya, there was an old lady selling ramen; her salt-flavored ramen was very hearty. The balloon pudding was also delicious.
Reviews: Hokkaido│Noboribetsu & Lake Toya Tour with Ropeway Ticket

Our guide was very nice and very accommodating. We had English, Chinese and Japanese tourists on our bus, so he had to say everything in all 3 languages. The sites in this tour were amazing. We decided to do the ropeway and feed the bears. The ropeway had stunning views and we rushed to see all the views at the top to have time to feed the bears. Feeding the bears was disappointing. You get a bag of wafer cookies for ¥200 and then toss the cookies down to an enclosure were the bears try and catch them with their mouths. It made me sad. But otherwise, the tour was great. And the bus stopped for bathroom breaks.
