Beginner Coasteering Adventure in West Cornwall
Looking for your first taste of coasteering? Our Beginner Coasteering session is designed for anyone aged 9+ who wants to try this thrilling adventure at a gentle pace. Whether you're nervous about jumping or unsure what coasteering even is, we'll guide you every step of the way.
Coasteering blends wild swimming, low-level climbing, and optional cliff jumps – all set along the spectacular Cornish coastline. This beginner-friendly route avoids the biggest jumps and strongest swells, offering instead a fun, confidence-building adventure full of hidden caves, sea gullies, and beautiful natural features.
Our expert guides are highly experienced and great with nervous first-timers, families, and mixed-ability groups. We'll help you gain confidence in the water, teach you how to move safely through the coastal terrain, and give you plenty of encouragement (never pressure) to take on any optional challenges.
Jumping not required. Swimming unavoidable. Laughter guaranteed.

Itinerary
All our Beginner Coasteering sessions take place at Praa Sands, one of Cornwall's most accessible and scenic coasteering spots. With its long beach, sheltered cliffs, and variety of natural features, it's the ideal environment for your first coasteering adventure.
We'll meet you in the car park at Praa Sands and get you kitted out with your wetsuit, buoyancy aid, and helmet. After a thorough safety briefing and a few top tips, we'll walk down to the beach and begin the session.
The route starts gently, with time to get used to the water and learn how to move safely on the rocks. Your guide will be right there to support you. Early in the session, we'll reach our first optional jumps – small, safe, and always skippable.
As the session progresses, you'll swim, scramble, and float your way through magical parts of the coastline only accessible by water. Expect laughter, splashes, and maybe even the thrill of trying a slightly higher jump – if you're up for it.
We finish the session tired but buzzing, ready for a snack and a warm towel.
