The Royal Tyrrell Museum is located in the Red Deer River Valley, where the Red Deer River flows. The Red Deer River Valley is located in the central part of Alberta. A deep crack suddenly appears in the vast grassland. The scenery in the canyon is very different from the green grassland scenery. It presents a bleak and desolate desert landscape, so many places are directly called Badlands. However, the Badlands here are literal badlands, with gullies and rocks everywhere, few plants, and occasionally one or two strange-shaped short trees. By the way, Paul French wrote a book called "Midnight in Peking", and the second volume mainly introduces a "badland" in Peking at that time. "Midnight in Peking" tells the story of the murder of the adopted daughter of a British diplomat in Peking in the 1930s, which was mentioned in Jiang Wen's movie "Evil Never Triumphs Over Good". The late Wakeman, one of the three great sinologists, wrote a book called "Shanghai Badlands". The "evil land" here is the translation of "Badlands", and both refer to Badlands in the humanistic sense.
The Royal Tyrrell Museum is known as one of the largest dinosaur museums in the world. Most of the dinosaur fossils exhibited in it are produced in Alberta. There are many special dinosaurs, such as Albertosaurus, a carnivorous dinosaur similar to Tyrannosaurus Rex but slightly smaller, and a huge mosasaur living in the ocean, which shows that hundreds of millions of years ago, the Alberta grassland was a vast ocean. If you are particularly interested in dinosaurs, you will probably like it very much. Some of the dinosaur fossils exhibited here are in very good condition and the skeletons are very complete. However, some fine products are probably not available in the regular exhibition, so you have to pay attention to the special exhibition information.
In addition to the restaurant museum, the Badlands Interpretive Trail next to it is definitely worth a walk. This circular trail is only 1.6 kilometers in total, with 12 signposts along the way. You can follow the signposts or wander around inside, and you may find dinosaur fossils.
