Our family is on a British Isles cruise and stopped in Belfast yesterday. Lisa from CitySightSeeing was easy to find, standing right outside of the gift shop at the pier.
The coach was comfortable and our driver Joe expeditiously drove us up the freeway in order to beat most of the crowds at Dunluce Castle and Giant’s Causeway. Lisa was a well spoken and very knowledgeable guide who kept us entertained throughout our time in the coach. We learned a lot about the people, history, and folklore of Northern Ireland.
We had enough time to walk down the entire path at Giant’s Causeway and take pictures but not a lot more. This was fine because we had so much more to see. If you haven’t been to Giant’s Causeway, it is a must see because of its beauty and uniqueness.
On the way back, Joe drove us down the scenic coast. We stopped for a view of the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. Sadly, we were not able to walk across the bridge because while it was closed during Covid, it was discovered that the coaches were damaging the natural flora so they are now prohibited. The view was pretty though.
We stopped in a very cute small town for lunch at a pub called Harry’s. The upstairs was mostly reserved for our group and we had a limited menu of five or six entrees so they could serve us quickly. The food was adequate. Nothing to write home about but perfectly acceptable.
We made one more stop off for pictures of Carrickfergus Castle before heading to Belfast for a historical commentary and viewing of the various murals.
At our tour’s conclusion we were dropped off quite close to our ship with plenty of time to spare. Overall this was an amazing tour at a fraction of the price of going through the cruise ship. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone coming to Belfast via cruise ship. You won’t be disappointed.★

This elderly gentleman who was also our guide and driver was amazing! He talked non-stop the entire way. I initially thought there was someone else driving, so how did he manage to talk so much while driving? And it definitely wasn't a recording; he directly described the road conditions ahead when encountering different traffic situations. He wrote the meeting time at each stop on a small board. The route was roughly like this: facing the front of the bus, you could see the most beautiful stretch of the bay road with the sea on your right. The first stop was the seaside castle, about forty minutes, followed by a short stop for photos of the Carrick-a-Lago Bridge. Then came the Dark Hedges, where we had lunch, about an hour and a half? There was a restaurant there, a bit like a cafeteria where you could choose between meat and vegetable dishes, all at the same price. I thought the food was alright; I felt the British cuisine was generally consistent. If you eat quickly, you can walk around the Dark Hedges and take some photos. Next was Dunluce Castle, also about an hour or less. The last stop was the Giant's Causeway, which took the longest time, about two hours, enough to hike one of the trails. We walked along the coastal route, took the bus back, and then rushed back halfway along the higher coastal route, arriving just in time for the meeting. We reached the dismissal point around 6:15 PM, returned to the hotel to collect our luggage, and caught the 7:00 PM train to Dublin, which was just in time. It was a perfect itinerary. If you want to hear what the guide said, you can ask Doubao to translate. Along the way, we passed a filming location for the Giant's Causeway in Game of Thrones; the actual wall was indeed very small and low. The guide explained the story of Game of Thrones, the origin of the Giant's Causeway, and the stories of any interesting sights we passed. In short, I think it was excellent value for money and highly recommended.★
