This is a must-have for tourists. Purchasing train and bus tickets in Germany can be complicated, so just having this card will make all your travel free. Generally, you don't need to swipe the card or show it to station staff, but it seems that there is no problem if you show it when they occasionally check your ticket. I purchased a two-day pass and was never asked to show it. However, if you don't have it with you when your ticket is checked, you will have to pay a large fine, so it is safer to have it. It may be a bit expensive for people who have no problem sightseeing in Germany or paying for tickets. You will get discounts on admission to zoos and museums, but you need to keep in mind that you will not be able to buy tickets online as you will need to show the card.
