Reviews: Dunedin Little Blue Penguin Night Tour, South Island, New Zealand

This is a highly recommended penguin parade experience. The meeting point is a bit remote, so driving is recommended. Several guides provide detailed explanations throughout the activity, each offering unique and easy-to-understand information. The activity is divided into two parts. The first part, about half an hour, begins with an introduction to penguin characteristics, the area, and conservation programs, giving everyone a comprehensive understanding of the region. The second part involves a walk to the penguin parade site. Ample space is provided for everyone to observe the penguins' journey from multiple angles, so you don't need to worry about missing their route. Furthermore, you don't need to worry about not seeing the penguins, as this is their home, and they return there daily. This time, we also witnessed sea lions interacting with the penguins, and the guides taught us how to observe the penguins' return, making it a truly unique and unforgettable experience! Highly recommended. The activity ends after dark, so please drive carefully on your way home at night.

Toured in a small van to private farm on Otago Peninsula. Our guide Paula was friendly and kind and knows everything about penguins! We visited the fur seal colony and saw sea lions on the beach. Also lots of sheep and lambs, and Paula pointed out the native birds. The landscape is stunningly beautiful. We had a great time.

Had a beautiful tour of the Otago peninsula followed by the incredible experience seeing Kororā/Little blue penguins coming in from the sea for the night. They are so cute and you get to see them really close from the platform. It was our first time seeing penguins in the wild and it was a real bucket list experience. Our guide Dani was fantastic, we learnt loads about the penguins and other local wildlife

The tour is absolutely fantastic! Our guide lived and breathed his job and was incredibly enthusiastic about every animal we saw. His good humor and joy in being in nature were truly infectious (I've rarely met such a kind and warm person). We were lucky enough to see two penguins and several sea lions. The ticket price directly supports the work being done on-site and contributes to the preservation of wildlife and the natural world – that gives you an extra sense of satisfaction.
