Paulo was a wonderful guide! This was my 2nd tour with *** (1st was Coliseum) and again, I wasn’t disappointed. We had a small group of 6, and Paulo was very informative about the history of Herculaneum. It was really interesting to learn all about the city. We saw 4 or 5 rich houses, a restaurant and the men’s and women’s bath houses. We learned about what archeologists believe life was like when the city was lively, etc. and overall it was a good tour. Paulo is very knowledgeable and passionate about what he does, and it shows. I chose not to see Pompei, and see Herculaneum instead. I’m not sure if it was the best choice or not. I did very much enjoy seeing the original frescos, tiled floors, and artifacts that were still in the city (and museum also included in the ticket fee).

We were picked up by our tour leader Giovanni, and driver Giovanni (Giovanni x2). And we knew we were off to a great start. They were welcoming and warm, and they gave us a brief introduction to mount Vesuvius and were already engaging right from the start. After which, we were transported to Pompeii and were welcomed by Anna C, our archeologist tour guide for the Pompeii tour. She was knowledgeable and brought us around Pompeii, explaining details of each place to us. After that, we were brought to Herculeneam where we met the wonderful tour guide LELLO who was funny, engaging, knowledgeable and as passionate about Herculeneam. And the way he brought us around Herculeneam was as if it transported us back to that period in time, as he explained each detail patiently and answered all our questions. Herculeneam itself was so well preserved as well, it was such a delight to see everything in such vivid detail, and to be brought around the area with LELLO as our tour guide was even better!

We enjoyed Pompeii and our great guide with Salvador. Herculaneum was superb thanks to Alexander’s tips on what to see! Great transportation and lunch. Alexander was very informative and we highly recommend this day tour.
