Reviews: Yala National Park Safari Tours - Half Day & Full Day

This was probably one of the best experiences of my life! Our driver Madu was incredibly knowledgeable about the animals and wildlife and made the day enjoyable. We were really lucky to see elephants, 3 leopards and even a sloth bear and a lot of this was down to Madu and a little bit of luck!

Our morning safari was an awesome experience from start to end. We expected to see some wildlife but definitely not seeing almost all the wildlife in this national park. Elephants, monkeys, tons of birds, mammals, sloth bear, wild cat, reptiles... Our guide Udayanga was really professional, explaining and naming everything we saw, driving smoothly and safely, leading us away from crowded roads very fast. He is also a very good human, passionate about the wildlife and respectful. We saw a lot of crazy other tours driving people around without any concern of the surrounding and the wildlife, ready to do everything to get them a good picture. But at the end with the patience and perfect behaviour of Udayanga we saw exactly the same, everytime in a good spot and in a more peaceful way. ස්තූතියි 🙏

A pretty good tour. But read the description carefully, because you have to pay a separate entrance fee to enter the park. There was a whole traffic jam for the leopard, and it was sleeping in the branches, so you could only see a small part of the animal.

Sri Lanka offers some of Asia's most spectacular wildlife experiences across multiple national parks. Whether you're seeking elephants, leopards, or rare bird species, this island nation delivers unforgettable safari adventures. Yala National Park Best for: Leopard sightings, overall wildlife diversity Visit Duration: Half-day or full-day safari Best Time: February to July (dry season) Yala boasts the highest leopard density globally. Early morning safaris offer the best chance for sightings. The park also features elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, and over 200 bird species. Book your safari in advance, especially during peak season. Tip: Stay in nearby Tissamaharama or Kirinda for easy park access.

We (a couple in our mid-30s from Germany) went on an afternoon safari with this operator yesterday and were absolutely thrilled. Our guide was very professional, an excellent driver, and provided us with interesting information throughout the tour. He also spoke very good English and even a little German, which made communication particularly pleasant. We especially appreciated his conscious effort to avoid the large crowds. He told us that there were around 150 tours in total – and yet we were often completely alone in certain areas. When we did encounter other vehicles, they were often traveling in groups. This made the safari truly special for us, as we wanted to experience a wildlife safari, not a people safari. Although we unfortunately didn't see a leopard, our guide really did everything he could to make that experience possible. In the end, however, it didn't matter at all, because the entire tour was so well-rounded, relaxed, and authentic, and we saw, for example, one of the rarer elephants with a tusk and even a herd with babies. ...``` ``` `` `` `` `` `` Another highlight was the end of the tour: we were one of the few cars allowed to watch the sunset from outside the park, while most were taken directly to their hotels – a beautiful and very special moment. Highly recommended!
