We had such a great time at the Smithwick’s Experience. The tour was fun, engaging, and packed with history told in a really entertaining way. Our guide was knowledgeable and funny, and the interactive parts made it even better. The tasting at the end was a perfect finish (the pint alone makes it worth it!). Definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Kilkenny. It’s well worth the money.

What an authentic, fun, enlightening, and enjoyable experience. While he may have failed History Class (his words), his marks as a tour guide and Kilkenny evangelist are second to none! If you’re looking for more than just a rehearsed tour, this is the experience you’re looking for. The cost should easily be triple what he charges, so tip accordingly!

Great. It's interesting. The staircase is practically vertical. If you're very tall, you might find it difficult to climb. The ascent is very easy; it's 10 steps with 10 steps each. The views from the top are spectacular.

We had an amazing time on the Kilkenny Historical Highlights Walking Tour with John. Even with the rain, he adjusted the route seamlessly and kept the tour fun and engaging. John is incredibly knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and had us laughing throughout. He also pointed out great photo spots and gave us excellent recommendations for the rest of our stay in Ireland. We’d recommend this tour (and John in particular) to anyone visiting Kilkenny. We’ll definitely be joining again when we’re back!


