I reserved an eSIM and paid for it with a Mir card at home in Russia. I installed it before the trip. It started working immediately after landing in Phuket. The 3GB/day data plan was more than enough for navigation, music, social media with friends and family, and sending photos and videos. I didn't use the Wi-Fi at the hotel. The connection quality and speed were generally excellent. There were a few moments near Bang Tao Beach and on one of the islands where the speed dropped to 4G and file uploads stalled. But overall, everything was fine.
