Everything's fine! It was warm on the ferry. But the waves were rocking the bottom and closer to the bow. If you get seasick, sit higher up.

It's all much simpler than you might imagine. I bought a ticket on trip.com, arrived at the port, and the person at the entrance immediately told me where to go for check-in. I handed over my passport, waited a bit on the seats, and then received my ticket. They called my name. Then they took my passport at passport control and returned it upon arrival in Koh Lipe. The trip itself took about an hour and 20 minutes. A very comfortable ferry!
