Did you ever have one of "those" days? No, not that kind of day, but a Ferris Bueller type super awesome experience? We were picked up by the first of our guides in Lisbon, but not in a jeep... Hmmm, ok, let's see. It was explained to us that three small tours were being transported to Setubal before breaking up. Ok, I understand. After the wrong hotel pick up for the third couple of our group, and a crazy ride through Lisbon, we were on the way to Setubal. Our second guide, bundled us into the jeep, and off we went. We first stopped at an old river defense base from WWII (Yes, I know Portugal was neutral) with stunning views. From there an off-road adventure to a Church in a cave on the water, and through a cork farm and other agricultural areas. We stopped in Sesimbra for a beach side lunch and drinks (recommended by the guide instead of the tourist trap restaurant) We enjoyed the best Cuttlefish meal I've ever had, with a friendly group acquainted with our guide. After leaving, we enjoyed a bonus vineyard visit with the other groups including the third guide before visiting a Gothic monastery (bonus!). Instead of sitting in traffic back to Lisbon, the first guide stopped and bought cheese, wine, and chorizo as we watched the sunsetting over Lisboa

Rodrigo was a great guide and driver! He shared historical information with knowledge and confidence in a story telling way that brought the people and events to life. He did a great job. Make sure you are ready to walk a good distance over rough cobbles and up lots of hills and stairs. It’s completely worth it at all venues.

We loved this tour! Our tour guide Sergei was knowledgeable, friendly and organized. It was a a busy day at the Peña Palace and Quinta da Regalheira, but Sergei expertly guided us through the beautiful palace and lush gardens. We had lunch (not included) at lovely outdoor cafe where Sergei made reservations for our party of 6. We ended the day with short stops at Coba da Roca (most western point of Europe with sweeping views of the crystal blue sea) and Cascais (an upscale seaside village). This tour is a great value and was one of the highlights of our trip.

The day starts early (8:00 a.m.) in Rossario Square, followed by about an hour's drive to the Pena Palace (outside of palace is beautiful, but make sure you also include the interior guided tour). Beautiful, well preserved interiors. Some stairs inside, but easy to navigate. Then off to Regaleira (quite a bit of walking in the gardens here). High lite was stroll through the manmade caverns and the well (lots of stairs here to descend the well to the bottom and the caverns - you don't exit the same way - no stairs to exit). Cabo da Roca had great views of the ocean, which at times can be very rough, creating incredible waves crashing on the sea cliffs. Our day was incredibly winding, making vertical walking almost impossible, but still an experience. Lastly, Cascais was just a drive-by, drive-through visit on the return to Lisbon.

Our driver was Pedro, he stopped at some beautiful Sunset spots for pictures. We were the only customers at the restaurant for the show, so it was special. The food was a very good presentation of Portugese cuisine. Pedro was very informative on the history of Alfama. Thank you
