Reviews: Madurai Street Food Crawl (2 Hours Guided Food Tasting Tour)

It's best to do this around noon or 7 pm so you're a little hungry and can enjoy your meal. Discover Indian dishes.
Reviews: Best of Madurai (Guided Halfday Sightseeing Tour by Car)
Guest User2025-11-15
Our guide Prakash was excellent and did well to explain everything to us. Unfortunately, the Meenakshi Amman Temple was mostly covered up (only one gopuram was not covered) due to scheduled restoration works - very disappointing. Plus there was a lot of building work going on to repair the damaged caused by fire. Also the Gandhi Museum was closed and all that we could were copies of artifacts in the main museum. Thankfully, the Thrumalai Nayakka Mahal Palace was superb and well worth the visit.
Reviews: Day Trip to Thanjavur (Guided Sightseeing Tour by Car from Madurai)
Guest User2024-01-27
From Madurai it is about 2h30 drive to Thanjavur. The site itself is worth the journey. Smooth drive with attentive driver. Competent, knowledgeable and professional guide was on site. I was invited to visit a small craft foundry to complete my trip, which was a lovely stop. I was the only customer. Of note, this sort of experience is costly, however very practical if you do not have time to move to another city to only see one particular thing.

Reviews: Private tour of Madurai city with guide for a cultural immersion
Guest User2024-02-28
Just back from a wonderful tour of Meenakshi Temple & Thirumalai Nayak Palace with our guide Mutha. Mutha was punctual, well organised, knowledgeable and friendly. We were picked up from our hotel in an A/C taxi at 8am taken on a well planned and informative tour of Meenakshi Temple. Mutha arranged for safekeeping of our valuables such as phone & smart watches during our visit as they are not permitted inside the temple. From there we went to the Palace. Again Mutha was knowledgeable about the history. Next we visited the Gandhi Museum (housed in a temporary building during renovation) and purchased Gandhi's autobiography for rs. 80. The stop at the market selling bananas was enjoyable, tasty & great photo opps. After that we ate a thali for lunch at Amman restaurant which was delicious and patiently explained to us by Muthu. The staff were efficient and polite and the restaurant & washroom were clean. After lunch we drove out to the pottery village about 7 km outside of Madurai. We heard from some of the women working there and found it interesting. Overall I would totally recommend this immersive cultural tour.
Reviews: India 5G eSIM | Dual Network Coverage | Full AI & TikTok Access | 1-30 Days | Instant QR

I connected upon arrival in Delhi, and everything was set up in about 30 minutes. Network coverage was fine in Haridwar, Rishikesh, and the entire train ride to Varanasi. I got a little lost after the flight to Mumbai and lost connection while driving along the Maharashtra expressway to Ellora. Overall: I highly recommend it; I didn't regret it!
