Reviews: Mekong Delta Day Trip: A Day of Nature and Culture - Private tour

I was initially hesitant about the Mekong River trip, thinking it might be boring, but since we had a day left in Ho Chi Minh City, I decided to go for it. We had mentioned beforehand that we needed to be back at the hotel by 6:30 PM because we were going to have French food. Our guide and driver were ready to pick us up early the next morning. Our previous tour to the Cu Chi Tunnels, which was also with the same travel agency, was delayed due to traffic, so they thoughtfully arranged for the guide and driver to leave earlier, knowing we weren't satisfied. There were three of us in a seven-seater vehicle, plus the guide and driver, which felt a bit cramped. I recommend that even groups of three or four choose a vehicle with at least seven seats, as the journey is quite long. After passing a service area, we went to the pier, where private boats took us to Coconut Island. There, we could visit a coconut sugar factory, listen to folk songs, and take a horse-drawn carriage ride around the island. However, I suggest telling the guide to take an electric cart, as the horses there often have to carry tourists and are under a lot of strain! The highlight of the trip was a small boat ride through the coconut grove. The tour guide did an excellent job; it was a private boat, and they arranged our seating according to our size. After a 15-minute ride, we went ashore to visit a honey factory, and then took a private boat to another island for lunch. This was already included in the tour price. The professional tour guide had already asked about our food allergies before arranging the menu, which was very thoughtful! After lunch, we took another private boat back to the pier and then a 15-minute drive to a temple, which was very unique and beautiful! The trip ended there! Special praise to our tour guide, Alex; without his professional guidance, this tour wouldn't have been as enjoyable!★

It was a great deal because it was a large group bus tour conducted in English. Our guide, Victor, picked us up from the hotel lobby. It takes about an hour and a half each way from Ho Chi Minh City to the Mekong River. The bus was brand new, so the journey was very comfortable. We visited Vinh Trang Pagoda, held beehives and sampled lemonade at a beekeeping farm, listened to songs while drinking fruit and tea, wrapped snakes around our necks and sampled snake wine, watched and sampled coconut peeling and coconut candy making, went down the river in a rowboat, had a luxurious lunch, and returned to the bus by boat while drinking coconut juice. It was so much fun, I definitely recommend taking this tour if you go to Ho Chi Minh City.★

We enjoyed the tour. Everything was perfectly organized from the start. We were picked up from the hotel on time. Our guide, Lio, communicated with us through a translator since we were in an English-speaking group, but we understood him perfectly. We reached the locations a little earlier than the other groups, so we got great photos without the crowds. The driver drove well, quickly but carefully.★

On the day of the tour I participated in, there were 7 people, and we were lucky enough to have both an English-speaking and a Japanese-speaking guide, allowing us to hear commentary in two languages. The trip to My Tho takes about 90 minutes, but this tour offers many authentic Vietnamese experiences, including a visit to the historic Vinh Trang Pagoda, a coconut cracker tasting, a ride on a motorboat, a ride on a local mini-car, a rowboat, My Tho's local cuisine, honey tea, and fresh fruit tastings. The tour also includes announcements from participants' perspectives, such as which toilets are good, making it a truly worthwhile tour.★

It was a very satisfying tour 😊. The guide spoke Japanese, was very knowledgeable, and kind. This tour is an absolute bargain for the price. If you come to Ho Chi Minh City, I highly recommend experiencing the Mekong Delta tour.
