This is a very convenient pass. It pays for itself with a single roundtrip from Osaka or Kyoto to Miyajima/Hiroshima. Please note that the Osaka-Kyoto-Osaka section is not included in this pass, as this section of the Shinkansen is part of the Tokaido Line. However, the pass includes many express and regular trains on this section, so the journey can easily be completed in 20-30 minutes, depending on the time of day.

For my 6-day, 5-night trip, I bought a 5-day Kansai Wide Area Rail Pass. It was an incredible value! It took me from Kansai Airport to my hotel, then to Himeji Castle, then to the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge. Then, I went to Wakayama and Shirahama, even using the Kodama Tram at Kishike Station, and finally back to Kansai Airport. It was incredibly practical and saved me money!

Go to Okayama & Hiroshima & Yamaguchi Miyajima, Kamdaiba Bridge, Takujima, Okayama, Takamatsu and other activities, and buy railway travel coupons in Okayama & Hiroshima & Yamaguchi area. The latest price is 17,000 yen, Trip.com price is 828 yuan. Use between Hakata and Okayama, Kyushu. It is very convenient to change tickets at the West Japan Green Window at JR Hakata Station.

Although the price has increased, it's a fantastic value, with a 7-day Shinkansen and express train ticket costing the full amount. Redemption is easy at Kansai Airport, with designated seats available at the green window. JR Passes allow you to use sleeping trains, but you'll need to pay for express trains and beds.

Very good pass. I could use it for shinkansen from Shin Osaka to Hakata unlimited. I also used it to go to Tottori via Limited Express Hakuto to see the sand dunes, Himeji via shinkansen for the Himeji castle. Kyoto to see Bamboo forest and a lot more.


