Reviews: From Cebu: Oslob Whale Shark Encounter + Moalboal Sardine Run Snorkeling | Full-Day Marine Adventure

I took this tour yesterday. Perhaps due to the Lunar New Year, it was busier than I expected. When I arrived in Oslob at 7:30 AM, I was told there would be a three- to four-hour wait for snorkeling. After waiting for about two hours, they carefully explained to me that depending on the wave conditions, we might not be able to go out any further that day, that we might not see any whale sharks, and that if we switched to diving for an additional fee, we could get back in the water straight away. They didn't push me at all, but simply told me the facts honestly, leaving us the choice between spending money on a guaranteed experience or waiting and hoping for luck. We decided to go diving, and it was the best decision. By taking the last available dive slot, I was able to dive deep into the ocean and enjoy beautiful coral reefs, colorful fish, sea turtles, and, most of all, actually swimming with whale sharks, for an unforgettable experience. We heard that the whale sharks had left just as our dive finished, and it really dawned on us how close we were to missing them. I'm truly grateful to the staff for honestly explaining the situation to us. The time we spent with the schools of sardines and sea turtles that followed was also amazing, but swimming with the whale sharks was truly a special and wonderful memory for us. The entire tour was organized very smoothly. However, since the 4am departure is a relatively late start, it's best to keep in mind that there may be long wait times depending on the group, and that seeing a whale shark is not guaranteed, as you're dealing with nature. Even so, this experience was one that made me truly glad I participated! Thank you so much.

Great. If you love snorkeling, this is for you. There's only one beach, and we spent an hour there. Lunch was delicious.

It's a very cool field trip. They picked it up from the hotel in time, brought it to the pier. The employee kept an eye on the whole time to make sure we didn’t get lost. The team is great. The only thing I didn't like was the extra kayak fee of 1,500 pesos, which is almost equal to the cost of the excursion itself. I would suggest that the organizers include this directly in the price, as it's an integral part of the program.

You can visit major tourist spots that are difficult to reach on your own in one day. We traveled in a minivan (Nissan Caravan) with eight people. Due to road conditions, the ride was not particularly comfortable. The driver was friendly, but although the tour was in English, there was little explanation of the tourist spots. There was no set meeting time and no communication, so we had to worry about the time while sightseeing. They picked us up from the hotel, but we waited about 40 minutes. I think this is normal for the area. On the way back, we met up at a shopping mall, but it seems they can also take you back to the hotel if you negotiate. It was great.
