Reviews: Puerto Jiménez: Corcovado La Leona Full Day with a Typical Lunch
Guest User2026-02-12
Carlos is the best guide we have had on our tours in Puerto Jimenez. He has a great knowledge and he is really passionate passionate about his job and the nature of Costa Rica. We learned a lot about the complexity of the biodiversity and the interaktion between all the species. We saw so many fantastic animals, the tigersnake and the anteater were new to us. La Leona is different from Sirena, be prepared for a bit more difficult hike. Not too bad, though. The agency hadn't told us that we should carry our lunch, so our bags were a bit too small, so bring a bag with room for water, binoculars and a lunch box. Overall a 5 star day.

The excursion was absolutely amazing! We saw so many different animals, even a tapir! Elsa is very friendly and speaks French, but she wasn't the guide. That was Luis, and he was fantastic too. He was often the first to spot the animals, he was funny, and the meal was plentiful and delicious! We were absolutely thrilled. Thank you so much!

Very nice crew! We learnt a lot from them about the whales. They also tried to show as a lot as possible but also with the respect to the animals. Tasty food on the boat :) highly recommended!!

Our guide, Keller, is passionate about the area and deeply committed to its preservation. He's also a native of Corcovado and knows it intimately, along with its rich biodiversity. He's incredibly generous with information and has an uncanny knack for spotting animals. He's a fantastic person. However, a minor complaint about the boat: the life jackets were utterly stinky, and since the sea was rough on the return trip, we spent an hour aching in the fiberglass seats. Perhaps some more comfortable cushions would be a welcome addition.
