Mara was a great guide - very knowledgeable and charismatic. It was really fun to complete to the hike through the bog and explore the sea side!
Reviews: Big Riga: Old Town & Art Nouveau quarter

The tour was very interesting viewing the Old town and all the Art Nouveau buildings. Our guide gave us a lot of information on the meaning of all the symbols on the Art Nouveau buildings. She also told us about the history of Riga and she was proud of her town. The panoramic view was also very spectacular and certainly a plus for this tour. She did it wonderfully!
Reviews: Tour to Ponary Memorial Park, The Hill of Angels & Trakai Castle

This was awesome! Three sites, showing Lithuania’s medieval & horrific recent past and its hopes for the future. I was lucky. We travelled by car. Our driver/guide was very informative and kind.

Excellent tour though SmileLine Tours. We purchased a 3 pm tour at the travel information center at the Blackheads building on the Dom (City Hall) Square. Gutrun (sp?) only had 2 of us and spent quality time with us explaining Latvian recent history (including her personal experiences). The history of Riga is awesome and this tour (2 hours) filled in my lack of knowledge on this awesome historical city.
Reviews: Riga Central Market
Guest User2025-08-27
Riga Central Market is easily accessible on foot from Old Town. It should definitely be on your list of places to visit in Riga. The market halls are located in halls consisting of semi-arches. This can be seen very clearly from the observation deck of St. Peter's Church, which is 72 meters high. During World War I, these halls served as hangars for zeppelins used as weapons of war in Germany. After World War I, they were sold to Riga in a kind of "swords into plowshares" operation to serve as market halls. Outside, there are stalls selling fresh fruit and vegetables. The fish stalls inside the market halls are impressive, especially smoked fish, which can also be purchased inexpensively here.
