Reviews: Taupō: Sail Barbary Eco Sailing to the Maori Rock Carvings
Guest User2026-03-20
The trip out to the Māori carvings was amazing but the battery had not charged on the electric yacht so we had to take another boat which was still pretty good! After we looked at the Māori carvings we then had the opportunity to have a swim in the lake nearby which I did and loved it!

Absolutely amazing experience! The Skipper was extremely knowledgeable & made the cruise not only informative but fun. The shipmates were very welcoming & we chose Earnest Kemp because they are dog friendly & our dog was welcomed by not just staff but other guests!

Fabulous tour, and our guide, Linda, was wonderful. Very knowledgeable, with so much info to share. Lots of walking, which was very enjoyable.
Reviews: Waikato River Jet Boat Ride from Taupo

What an absolute blast! The staff were amazing the ride was even more so. A group of 6 of us went along for a bit of team building. Being the middle of winter we excepted a very cold ride however this was not the case. The day was still chilly but the ride not so, a warm jacket is all you needed to be comfortable. Lots of spins and turns, bit of commentary about the dam, river and surrounding area. The photos were affordable and there was a decent amount of them unlike similar attractions where you may received 3. Some of us are planning a repeat taking family and friends along for the ride.

Wowzer a not to miss! I have been to many national parks and nature preserves and this has to be up there in the top ten! A beautiful self-guided walk through the geothermal valley, surrounded by hotsprings, very cool vegetation and birds and all at your own pace, we took about three hours, you could do it in less or take the better part of the day. Absolutely stunning views and lots of birds to watch. We also took the boat trip at the end it was great and a better chance to see more geysers. Plus added benefit the Cap'n was great and had spent time piloting in Alaska waters so we had a good chat about that too. The walk is also easy for kids and even better when you are done there are buses that bring you back to the top/carpark so even good for us older folks and people with kids. :)
Reviews: Rotorua: Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Park Entry Ticket
Guest User2026-04-03
We really enjoyed visiting Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Park and felt it was excellent value for the price. We spent about 3.5 hours there but could have happily spent much longer. Our experience started with the Lady Knox Geyser which was amazing, particularly with the lady singing a beautiful Māori song as the geyser erupted. I’m glad Parking at the main car park was plentiful and close to the main entrance. All staff we encountered were friendly and polite. We took our time walking around the 3 main areas which were breathtaking- other worldly. The walk was a little challenging at times but we took our time and it was fine. There were good walkways from which you could see each geothermal area activity from different viewpoints. The scenery was dramatic and awe inspiring, we loved it. We had lunch from the cafe afterwards which was tasty and well priced. One of our favourite experiences whilst in New Zealand and would highly recommend.
