Reviews: 1-day tour of Shirakawa-go + Hida Takayama + "Your Name" in Nagoya, Japan
Guest User2025-10-14
We booked a group tour through Ctrip, which was very convenient. The meeting point was right outside one of the Nagoya Station exits. The guide took attendance and assigned seats. He gave a brief overview of the attractions and distributed a map. I'd heard colleagues talk about Shirakawa-go Gassho Village as being beautiful, especially in winter after the snow. Although we visited on October 7th, the scenery was still stunning. I hadn't expected such a beautiful village to exist deep in the mountains. It wasn't crowded, and we all had a wonderful time strolling through the beautiful village.
Reviews: Takayama: Onigiri and miso soup making at a buddhist temple
Guest User2026-02-23
information explained how many things in Japanese society, including cooking, related to buddhism philosoohy. The cooking class was clear and easy to follow and fun to learn the modern way of shaping the triangle musubi. The miso soup recipe was interesting too because both white and red miso was used in the shiitake/kombu dashi.
Reviews: From Takayama: Explore the Hida Locations of 'Your Name'

We had an absolutely fantastic tour! Throughout the whole day we were able to discover places from one of our favorite anime movies – a real highlight for fans, but also simply a beautiful way to experience the city from a unique perspective. The atmosphere was very relaxed, and we never felt rushed, but could enjoy everything at our own pace. Along the way, we also made several food stops, which made the tour even more varied and enjoyable. A very special highlight was making our own bracelets in a traditional Japanese way – such a unique and memorable experience that gave us a wonderful keepsake from the day. Our guide was simply amazing: super friendly, open, and very knowledgeable. We quickly felt comfortable with him, and he answered all of our questions – not only about the tour itself, but also about Japan in general. All in all, it was a beautiful, very personal tour that we can highly recommend!
