We departed from the Queenstown meeting point at 7:30 AM and didn't arrive at the Milford Sound ticket office until just after 1:00 PM, stopping at several scenic spots for about ten minutes for photos. The boat trip lasted about two hours before heading back to Queenstown. In total, we spent over nine hours on the bus, which was incredibly uncomfortable – only the brave could make it! The driver spoke Chinese and was very nice! I wasn't particularly impressed by the fiordland scenery.

The cruise on Milford Sound was the highlight especially when the sun came out. The views were magnificent. There was plenty of informative commentary on the journey to Milford Sound and several stops to admire the views.

A fabulous afternoon on the lake and through the caves. The caves and glow worms were amazing. The guides were helpful and knowledgeable. Thoroughly recommend it. Don’t leave NZ without doing this!!

Comfortable ferry crossing at Te Anau lake & very informative cave walk & boat trip to see the glow worms in their natural environment. Good presentation with hot drinks after & plenty of information to read on history of site & lifecycle of glow worms.


