Reviews: From Guadalajara: La Rojeña Distillery & Jose Cuervo Train

It was very awesome trip to tequila. I enjoyed the people the music, the culture, the color historic buildings of tequila. Jalisco and the food was so good and the weather was perfect. But too much to drink and too much food wife enjoyed it and a good experience, but for a long day and night, the fun part was the train ride back to Guadalajara I will recommend people on this trip and then José Cuervo Tour of The Museum was very awesome and plenty of tequila to drink and plenty of restaurants with plenty of museums to explore, and the tour guy was very awesome on the journey and to see how they make tequila out there and plenty of tequila that I had to drink the next day with a nice hangover

What an excellent way to spend a day if you are in Guadalajara. Jose, our tour guide picked me up from the hotel at the said time and after picking up other tourists we were on our way. Jose went out of the way to accommodate me since I was the only non spanish speaking person on the tour. Never felt for a moment that I was being ignored. The trip started with a visit to one of the local tequila factories and since it was not that busy we got a great tour, got to know all about tequila, tasted some awesome samples and were on our way to the town of Tequila. What an amazing place. The tour of Jose Cuervo factory was really good as well. Samples were abundant, tried some stuff that is either not available where I am or stuff that I would not think of buying. Overall great experience. Would definitely recommend.

We came to visit our family in Guadalajara last month and they took us for the first time to Tequila, Jalisco. We were invited to La Mexicana Tequila Orendain for a tour and to taste their wonderful products. We were received by an enthusiastic guide who was very knowledgeable of the distillation process and tequila. He gave us a fantastic tour of their grounds, we were able to see the manufacturing process, we learned about the blue agave, and the difference with the type of agave used in the fabrication of mezcal. They only thing I wish I would have seen was the Jimadores working on the plants. Then we went into a private room to taste the three types they have Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo. There is a lot to it, more than you might think… Here in the USA tequila is drunk as shots, but there is a science to it. There are different kinds of tequila, distillation methods, and food pairings that are appropriate for different occasions. First of all, the tequila was served in a flute glass, and it is supposed to be tasted in sips (Kiss the tequila). After the tasting we were treated to a ‘Jarrita’, which is a cold cocktail made with Tequila which was delicious and tasty. I recommend to anyone who visits Jalisco to stop by La Mexicana, you will not regret it.

This tour has it ALL! Mauricio was the perfect guide for our day of tequila tasting. He was so knowledgeable and was happy to be flexible with us. He also made sure we were treated like VIP's- no waiting in lines or getting stuck behind big tour bus groups. Our highlights were the Tres Tonos tasting, lunch in the town of Tequila (Heads up: the city is mostly cash-only) and ending our day with a dance party at Cantaritos El Guero. Cantaritos was a GIANT outdoor bar with live music and dancing. We could have stayed here and danced all night!
