Piazza del Duomo is located in the heart of the historic center of Florence, which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1982. The square has been the city's religious center since the Middle Ages. In the late 13th century, surrounding residential buildings were demolished to build the new cathedral and bell tower, and it was gradually expanded over the following centuries to its current size. The square brings together three iconic buildings: theCathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto's Bell Tower, and The Baptistery of San Giovanni. Together, they form the "Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore complex," showcasing the evolution of architectural art in Florence from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. The dome designed by Brunelleschi stands over 90 m high and is a striking visual focal point on the square's skyline. Historic buildings such as the Archbishop's Palace, the Cathedral Museum, and the Bigallo Museum are also located around the square. Standing in the center of the square and looking around, the facades of buildings from different eras and styles complement each other, making it a key location for experiencing the urban landscape of Florence.Florence · 641m from downtown

Piazza della Signoria is the political heart of Florence and an open-air sculpture gallery. The square is "L"-shaped, with the jagged tower of the Palazzo Vecchio serving as its constant visual focal point. It is surrounded by Renaissance buildings such as the Loggia dei Lanzi and the Uffizi Gallery, while the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is just a short walk away through the alleys. The sculptures displayed in the square are a veritable open-air history of Renaissance sculpture. A replica of Michelangelo's "David" stands at the entrance of the Palazzo Vecchio; the original was moved to the Gallery of the Academy of Florence in the 19th century. To the right of the square is the Fountain of Neptune created by Ammannati, featuring a white marble statue of Neptune standing on a chariot drawn by horses in the center, surrounded by bronze mythical creatures. On the north side of the square stands the bronze equestrian statue of Cosimo I de' Medici by Giambologna. Walking through the square at dusk, you can often encounter street performers playing music, with the sounds echoing among the ancient buildings. From the time of the Republic of Florence to the present, this square has been a gathering place for citizens and tourists alike, where centuries of power shifts and artistic heritage intertwine.Florence · 631m from downtown

David is a masterpiece of Renaissance Michelangelo, carved between 1501 and 1504. The statue is a standing male nude carved in white marble, 5.17 meters high and weighs about 6 tons. Used to represent the Jewish hero King David in the Bible, it attracts about 1.2 million people every year to visit. In the beginning, the statue was placed in the square in front of the Palazzo Vecchio. In 1873, to protect the statue, the statue of David was transferred to the gallery of the Academy Art Gallery. Later, the Florence government also successively exhibited two replicas, which were placed in the center of Piazzale Michelangelo and in front of the gate of the City Hall.Florence · 1.1 km from downtown

Boboli Gardens is a magnificent 16th-century Italian-style garden located behind the Pitti Palace. Built by the Medici family, it represents a quintessential Italian garden and stands as a masterpiece of Baroque landscape design. The Church of the Holy Cross is located in the Holy Cross Square. It is the largest St. Francis Church in the world. Its exquisite architectural structure provides the architectural blueprint for the later European Catholic churches. The Basilica of Santa Croce is also known as "the Pantheon of Italy", where 276 great Italians such as Galileo, Michelangelo, Machievilla and Marconi are buried. The church is also decorated with exquisite masterpieces by many art masters, which can be called the condensed essence of Renaissance architecture and art. The French writer Stendhal once wrote: "Slowly, the Church of the Holy Cross gradually appeared in front of me. My My heart began to feel uneasy... My whole body seemed to lose strength, and every step I took seemed to be about to fall." This is where "Stendhal Syndrome" comes from. Santa Croce was built in 1924 and designed by Florentine architect Arnolfo DiCambio. The Gothic facade seen now was built on the occasion of the centenary of Dante's birth in the 19th century. On the side stands a statue of Dante. Colorful marbles of different shapes adorn the grand façade, and the top of the main entrance has a large satellite pattern designed by Jewish architect Matas.Florence · 1.2 km from downtown

After entering the church, you can climb up to the dome from the small door next to it. You need to climb 463 steps. It is a laborious process. The aisle is very narrow and requires many turns; but when you climb to the top, it will suddenly become clear and you can overlook the entire Florence. city. Golden roofs, grey or white walls and narrow streets, as well as church bells chirping one after another. The roof of the church is not big, but the wind on it is not small, please pay attention to safety. It is worth mentioning that the inside of the big dome is the huge ceiling painting "Doomsday" painted by the 16th-century Florentine painter Giorgio Vasari, which can be enjoyed. In addition, there are frescoes "Giovanni Aguto Monument" on the walls of the church hall and "Dante and the Divine Comedy" painted to commemorate the 200th birthday of Dante, and reliefs are everywhere.Florence · 740m from downtown

The queue was quite long, and you need to make sure you're in the correct line before you start queuing… Queues at tourist attractions in Europe often consist of several separate lines with unclear signage. I didn't choose to climb the bell tower or the dome, but the museum included in the ticket is worth a good look; personally, I felt the environment was quite nice.

such a lovely place, the duomo or cathedral is very big that I cannot take a picture of the whole cathedral. Even if I have seen it several times I always love to visit and see it again and again.

It's worth a visit. Although I don't know much about Florence, I just wanted to check it off my list and get a feel for it. I recommend splitting your time between visiting the Pitt Palace and the Uffizi Gallery. You can go to the Pitt Palace around 8 am and spend most of the day exploring it at your own pace. Because of time constraints, we didn't get to see much of the Boboli Gardens. Our accommodation near the train station was quite convenient. This was my second time in Florence, and I'd probably come back for a third time if I had the chance.

The towers of the Old Palace are well worth climbing; they offer panoramic views of the city and the Florence Cathedral (Santa Maria del Fiore). However, climbing the cathedral itself would obscure the view of the Old Palace itself. The interior of the Old Palace is also magnificent, with many rooms open to the public. However, the rooms are mostly furnished with frescoes and few other pieces of furniture or decoration.

The cultural center of Europe, the birthplace of the European Renaissance, the birthplace of opera, and a world-famous cultural tourist destination. Built in 1345, the Ponte Vecchio is the oldest bridge in Florence. The Ponte Vecchio was formerly the corridor from the Uffizi Palace to the Pitti Palace across the river.

Santa Croce is also a typical church in Florence, with white as the base color and green facade as the painted color pattern. The square of this church should be the largest among all churches in the city, so it is very formal.

Medici Chapel The private chapel of the Medici family, a prominent family in Florence. The chapel is quite luxurious. The most anticipated are Michelangelo's four semi-recumbent sculptures "Morning", "Evening", "Day" and "Night" which are displayed here. Enter the chapel and you will find out why there would be no Renaissance in Florence, Italy without the Medici family.
