Roatán is located in the Caribbean Sea north of Honduras, approx. 65 km from the Honduran mainland, and is part of the Islas de la Bahia, making it one of the larger islands in the Bay Islands. Copan Maya Archaeological Site
The Mayan ruins of Copan are built on a forested, undulating hill. It is not as tall as Tikal, but it also has its own unique charm and is one of the important sites of Mayan civilization. The abandoned castle and the magnificent public square reflect the three main stages of its development before it was abandoned in the early 10th century.
