Khan Mountain is located at the foot of Guanyin Mountain in Huolinguole City. It is a mountain sculpture scenic area themed around Mongol-Yuan culture, and the entire mountain is planned as a scroll of grassland history that you can read as you walk. From bottom to top, the scenic area consists of the mountain gate, The Road of the Blue Wolf, the Mongol-Yuan army formation, and the Mongol-Yuan emperor sculpture group. Not far from the entrance, statues of the Blue Wolf and the White Deer greet visitors first, which, according to legend, are the ancestors of the Mongol people; statues of historical figures from the Golden Family line both sides of The Road of the Blue Wolf, leading all the way to the foot of the mountain. Hundreds of warrior statues are arrayed at the foot of the mountain with an imposing presence reminiscent of the Terracotta Warriors, making it an iconic scene of the entire scenic area. Walking slowly up the plank road, the view gradually opens up, and more than 10 statues of Mongol-Yuan emperors are scattered along the mountainside. Upon reaching the summit, giant statues of Genghis Khan and Kublai Khan stand side by side, reaching tens of meters in height. They can be seen from afar and are even more awe-inspiring when viewed from below. From the summit, you can overlook the rolling green waves of the surrounding grassland, and taking photos with the sculpture group in the frame makes for excellent pictures. On the grassland around the scenic area, there are often experience activities such as horseback riding, archery, and taking photos in Mongolian robes, which interested visitors can try while they are there.China · Holingol

Ice-free River
No. 1 of Best Things to Do in Aershan National Forest Park

Ice-free River

4.8/5
54 reviews
Ice-free River is located within Aershan National Forest Park. It is a section of the Halaha River that stretches from Three Ponds Gorge to the vicinity of Jinjianggou Forest Farm, spanning approx. 20 km. Thanks to geothermal activity, the insulating rocks beneath the riverbed continuously release heat, keeping this section of the river from freezing for years. In the depths of winter, when water freezes instantly and all other rivers and streams in Aershan are frozen solid, this is the only place where water flows with a gentle murmur and steam rises. A ribbon of flowing water winds through the vast, snow-covered landscape, and the sight of ice and snow coexisting with warm, misty currents leaves many visitors amazed. Around sunrise in the early morning, mist rises from the river surface, and the water vapor condenses on the trees along the banks, forming crystal-clear rime. Round "snow buns" are scattered in the water at the shallows, contrasting with the still-green, swaying water plants in the river, making this a favorite time for photography enthusiasts to capture shots. In the evening, as the setting sun shines obliquely, the afterglow filters through the mist, creating a shimmering, colorful display that looks like rosy clouds spread across the river. If you visit when the winter Ice-free River rafting is open, you can take a specially designed raft downstream and experience a rare warmth amidst the ice and snow on the steaming river surface.China · Arxan

Genghis Khan Park is located on Han Mountain in the northern part of Ulanhot city and is an urban mountain park built into the mountainside. The park is lush with trees, and hiking trails wind through it. It is not only a place for local citizens to take daily walks and exercise, but also a main destination for tourists visiting Ulanhot to learn about Mongolian history and culture. Inside the park stands a large bronze statue of Genghis Khan on horseback, which is one of the landmarks where visitors stop to take photos. The granite steps leading from the mountain gate to the summit spread out along the slope, and the process of climbing them is part of the fun of the visit. The park's highlight is the Genghis Khan Temple located on the top of Han Mountain. It was first built in the 1940s and is known as the "Western Mausoleum and Eastern Temple" together with the Genghis Khan Mausoleum in Ordos. The front of the temple is shaped like the Chinese character "shan" (mountain), blending Mongolian, Han, and Tibetan architectural styles. The hall houses a gilded bronze seated statue of Genghis Khan, and the interior and exterior of the hall display Yuan Dynasty weapons, clothing, books, and other items. Large murals on the walls depict the main experiences of his life, which are worth a slow and careful look. Han Mountain itself is not high, but the view from the top is expansive. The streetscape of Ulanhot and the winding Taoer River in the distance are in full view, and the scenery is especially beautiful at sunset on clear days. In summer and fall, the mountain is full of greenery, making the visiting experience more comfortable.Ulanhot · 95.6 km from Jalaid Banner

The buffet was very generous, the service was warm and friendly, and the food was delicious. I was alone, so I was able to try a lot of dishes. The hot spring water was also wonderful—truly natural. And you absolutely must get a full-body scrub while you're here; the price isn't expensive, and it felt so good afterwards!

Khan Mountain is 11 kilometers away from the city of Holingol. It was built in 2011, covers an area of more than 13,000 square meters, and the sculpture height is 50 meters. It is the largest sculpture group of figures in my country, with an investment of 55 million yuan. The head of Genghis Khan on the top of the mountain is 50 meters high, and the head of Kublai Khan is 30 meters high. The 800 sculptures of the Mongolian soldiers are lifelike and majestic, very spectacular and shocking. The three characters "Khan Mountain" on the mountain gate were written by Buhe, the former vice chairman of the National People's Congress. Looking up at the tall image on the top of the mountain, I think of Chairman Mao's poem: Genghis Khan, a great hero, just bends his bow and shoots an eagle.

Back to Suishi Onsen again! My friends and I come every year. The onsen environment is great. This time we tried the outdoor onsen – a real contrast of hot and cold! It was amazing! The lovely lady recommended a private bathhouse, which was really great! The private bathhouse even had a small heated floor and a spa massage bed 💆🏻‍♂️ So comfortable! Highly recommended! Yueyue's service was excellent and very warm ❤️‍🔥 Thumbs up to her!

Located in Arxan City, Xing'an League, Inner Mongolia, the Arxan Unfrozen River is a 20-kilometer-long stretch of the Halaha River. Due to its abundant geothermal heat, the river never freezes even in temperatures as low as -40°C or even -50°C, earning it the name "Unfrozen River." A park in the city of Ulanhot. It's not very big and a bit dilapidated. There's a parking lot at the entrance. At the innermost part is the Genghis Khan Mausoleum. There's a fee. It looks like you have to climb quite a high staircase, so I didn't go up. Overall it's pretty good.

The scenic area is free to enter, and parking is also free. The sightseeing bus costs 30 yuan. You can also explore the area on foot without buying a ticket, but the distance is a bit far. The scenery is quite nice, with water features and natural landscapes reminiscent of the water towns of southern China. It's a 5A-level scenic area.
