Stjornarfoss

Stjornarfoss

3.6
Stjórnarfoss is located in the Skaftárhreppur municipality in southern Iceland, adjacent to the village of Kirkjubaejarklaustur. The waterfall is a two-tiered cascade, with water rushing down from an arched lava cliff. It is approx. 15m high, and the wide, dome-shaped cliff face gives it a unique silhouette that distinguishes it from other Icelandic waterfalls. The base of the cliff is filled with mist, and it is surrounded by typical southern Icelandic green meadows and volcanic hilly terrain. Compared to more famous nearby waterfall attractions, it is less crowded and offers a more tranquil and quiet environment, where you can experience the power of the water hitting the lava up close. It is a natural view worth stopping for on a road trip along the south coast.Kirkjubaejarklaustur · 1.8 km from downtown

The Blue Lagoon is located in Grindavik on the Reykjanes Peninsula in southwestern Iceland. It is a geothermal hot spring formed by volcanic lava. The water temperature is about 37-39 degrees Celsius. The lake water is rich in minerals such as silicon and sulfur, making it appear faint blue. Hot spring experience The Blue Lagoon has now become a symbol of Iceland. Many people who come to Iceland will choose to take a good bath here. Volcanic mud mask Don't forget to apply some silica mud on your face as a mask when taking a hot spring bath. The silica mud here is volcanic mud, which contains many minerals. Sauna In addition, you can also go to the sauna on the shore to steam for a while, and then come out to continue soaking. If it snows, it feels very unusual to immerse your body in warm water and look up at the white snow flying all over the sky.Iceland · Grindavik

Diamond Beach

Diamond Beach

Diamond Beach is located in southeastern Iceland, right next to the Glacier lagoon. The ice blocks in the Glacier lagoon originate from the Vatnajökull glacier. After breaking off, they drift into the Glacier lagoon and are then washed onto the black sand beach by the tide, forming ice blocks of various sizes and shapes. Some are as clear and transparent as glass, some are milky white, and others display a deep blue color due to long-term compression of the ice layers. Under the light, these ice blocks look like scattered diamonds, which is how Diamond Beach got its name. The strong contrast between the black volcanic sand and the colorful ice blocks creates a visually striking view, and because the ice blocks constantly washing ashore vary in shape, every visit offers a different experience. Occasionally, you can see harbor seals climbing onto the ice blocks to rest, adding vitality to this magnificent glacial landscape.Hornafjordur · 96.8 km from Kirkjubaejarklaustur

Blue Ice Cave

The Blue Ice Cave is a natural ice cave that forms under Iceland's Vatnajökull Glacier every winter, serving as a unique and rare natural view during the Icelandic winter. The color and shape of the ice cave are ever-changing. Not only does the shape differ from year to year, but even within a single day, it can display varying shades of blue depending on the weather and light, making every cave one-of-a-kind. This mysterious blue color comes from the ice layer's special filtering and reflection of light: the denser the ice, the more thoroughly it absorbs red light, resulting in a deeper and purer blue. Sunlight refracts through the ice into the cave, illuminating the interior with a dreamlike, blue-purple view.Hornafjordur · 98.1 km from Kirkjubaejarklaustur

Skógafoss

Skógafoss is located on the south coast of Iceland. The Skógá River cascades down from the top of a cliff approx. 60 m high and 25 m wide, forming an almost continuous curtain of water. This cliff is a remnant of Iceland's ancient coastline—as the coastline has retreated southward over thousands of years, the former coastal cliff was left inland, and the waterfall now plunges directly from the edge of this cliff. The area in front of the waterfall is filled with mist year-round, and on sunny days, you can often see a single or even a double rainbow; if you walk to the base of the waterfall, you will get soaked by the mist. On the east side of the waterfall, there is a zigzagging staircase trail leading to the top of the cliff, where you can overlook the entire waterfall and the distant south coast plains. There is also an ancient Norse legend about this waterfall: it is said that in the early days, someone hid a chest of gold treasure behind the waterfall. After rumors of the treasure spread, treasure hunters came in an endless stream, and later, someone actually found the ring of the chest here. This ring is now kept in the nearby Skógar Museum, and the legend of the treasure has been passed down to this day, becoming part of the waterfall's unique cultural charm.Rangarthing eystra · 76.6 km from Kirkjubaejarklaustur

As a landmark hot spring in Iceland, it's definitely worth a visit. The colors are truly unique, and the scenery is beautiful. Soaking in the hot spring while looking at the volcano and snow-capped mountains, and enjoying a cocktail is very relaxing.

Like falling diamonds from stars, they scatter on the icy beach. This cool beach is like nature's canvas, covered with sparkling diamonds, reflecting the dazzling light, just like the starry sky at night, so beautiful that people are intoxicated by this picturesque scenery.

The Forest Falls is one of the many waterfalls in Iceland. The scenery is very beautiful. When we arrived, the weather was super good. The water vapor from the waterfall drew a particularly beautiful rainbow under the sunlight, which was very impressive.
