Picking persimmons on the hillside in autumn was so much fun! The entire hillside was covered in bright red persimmons, like little red lanterns hanging everywhere. The owner brought ladders and shears, and we could pick and taste as many as we wanted. The persimmons were sweet as honey, not astringent at all. They charged by weight after we finished picking, and the price was even cheaper than at the market. They even peeled them for us to dry into dried persimmons. The big yellow dog in the orchard was incredibly gentle, running around after us without being aggressive at all. We picked a basketful to take home and share with our neighbors. Everyone praised how sweet they were. Spending an afternoon strolling around in the sun was so much more comfortable than being cooped up in the city—it was so much fun!
