Kujūku Islands

4.2
4.6/5
133 reviews

From Sasebo Port 25 kilometers north to Hirado, there are 208 islands, large and small, collectively known as Kujukushima. Except for 4 islands that are inhabited, the others are all uninhabited islands. Almost all areas are designated as Saikai National Park, and more than 80% of the 288.5km long coastline is a natural coastline and is well preserved. In particular, the islands off the coast of Sasebo are called the Minami Kujuku Islands, each of which has a different style, and the entire sea area is beautiful. If you take the Kujukushima Pearl Sea Resort Cruise, you can cruise around the beautiful Kujukushima Island in about 50 minutes. In particular, there are many unique islands in the southern part of Kujukushima, such as Jono Island with strange peaks and undulating rocks, and Changnanfeng Island stretched with Senjiji (looks like layers of tatami) rocks, etc., not to be missed. . The view of Kujukushima Island can be seen from the land, and the most popular viewing spot is the Kanzan Peak. From here, you can see the islands dotted like a jigsaw puzzle, and the gorgeous sunset, so be sure to check it out at sunset. Changchuanshan Park is a 234-meter-high Prospect Hill. About 100,000 rhododendrons bloom on its northern slope. From April to May, it is dyed a reddish pink, like a sea of flowers, which contrasts with the blue sky and blue sea. . The azalea festival is held every year in the flowering season, and various events and food stalls are lively. Oysters are the specialty food of Kujukushima, especially the oysters of Kujukushima caught in winter, with firm flesh and rich taste. During the season from October to March, various grilled oyster shops along the coast can enjoy the deliciousness of Kujukushima oysters. At the same time, rock oysters are in season in summer from June to August, so you can eat them whether you go in summer or winter. The Kujukushima Pearl Ocean Resort is a seaside resort park located at the entrance of the Kujukushima Island. With the theme of the sea, it includes an aquarium, a cruise on the Kujukushima Island, and a sea walk by sailing and kayaking. Fun that can only be experienced in Kujukushima.

Peace Park Nagasaki is a memorial park built on a hill north of the atomic bomb hypocenter to pray for world peace. The park features facilities such as the Peace Statue and the Fountain of Peace. Every year on August 9, the Atomic Bomb Memorial Day, a peace memorial ceremony is held at the ceremony plaza in front of the Peace Statue. Peace Statue Peace Statueis made of bronze, stands 9.7 m tall, and weighs 30 tons, symbolizing the wishes of Nagasaki citizens for peace. The bronze statue's right hand points to the sky, representing the threat of the atomic bomb, while the horizontally extended left hand represents peace. The gently closed eyelids are to pray for the souls of those who died in the atomic bombing, signifying that the world can only enjoy peace when free from the threat of nuclear weapons. Fountain of Peace It is said that many of the victims whose bodies were scorched from the inside due to the nuclear explosion died while moaning, "Please give me water, give me water." To pray for these suffering souls and offer them clear water, and to pray for the abolition of nuclear weapons and permanent world peace, this Fountain of Peace was built. The fountain symbolizes the wings of a dove of peace and a crane. Paper Crane Tower Completed on October 6, 1982, there are two Paper Crane Towers, each standing on either side of the Peace Statue. Many visitors to the park fold their prayers for peace into paper cranes and offer them to the towers. Thousands upon thousands of paper cranes express people's sincere prayers for world peace.

Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown is located in Shinchi-machi, Nagasaki City, and is ranked alongside Yokohama Chinatown and Kobe Nankin-machi as one of the three major Dai Hakata Chuka-gai Chikushi Guchi Ten in Japan. There are approx. 40 Chinese restaurants and general stores along the street. The area where the street is located was reclaimed from the sea in the mid-Edo period to build warehouses for imported goods from China. At the east, west, south, and north entrances of the cross-shaped street, which is approx. 250m long, there are Chinese gates carved with the traditional Chinese guardian animals of the four cardinal directions: the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise. The stone pavement of Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown was constructed with the assistance of Fuzhou, a sister city of Nagasaki City. Taste Nagasaki cuisine When it comes to representative Nagasaki cuisine, one must mention Champon, a noodle dish first created by Mr. Chen Ping-shun, the founder of the Chinese restaurant Shikairo. It later spread to other suppliers and became a signature Nagasaki dish. There is also the crispy "Sara Udon," a dish just as popular as Champon. Why not visit Dai Hakata Chuka-gai Chikushi Guchi Ten to enjoy the local flavors of Nagasaki? Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown Mid-Autumn Festival The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the three major festivals in China and is loved in Japan as the "Moon Viewing Festival." People celebrate the bright, round, and beautiful "Mid-Autumn Moon" as a symbol of family reunion. The 1,000 full moon lanterns decorating Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown are the spectacular grand finale. Nagasaki Lantern Festival Nagasaki Lantern Festivalwas originally a celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year by the people of Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown. In 1994, the scale was expanded, and it became famous nationwide as a major winter attraction. Every year from the 1st to the 15th day of the Lunar New Year, with Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown as the center, the streets are decorated with approx. 15,000 lanterns and various themed figures, creating a dreamlike scene that attracts a large number of visitors.

I came here after watching Detective Conan. It feels like a small Dutch town, very relaxed, without the crowds of TDL/S or USJ, and you don't need to rush to any attractions. It's just nice to stroll around quietly. There are many hotels here, making it suitable for overnight stays. There's a light show at night, and if you're lucky, there's even a fireworks display.

Atomic bombing during the WW2 was always part of my history lessons learnt during my school days. It was definitely worth visiting the museum.

There is a scenic area called Kujiu Island in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. Ninety-nine Island is actually located in the waters about 25 kilometers outside the port of Sasebo in Nagasaki. There are 208 islands, large and small, of which only four are inhabited, while the others are uninhabited islands. The best way to see Ninety-Nine Island is to look at the observation deck on the mountain. Unfortunately, it was overcast and the scenery was compromised. The other way to visit the island is to take a sightseeing boat, but when I arrived it was the February off-season, no boat, unfortunately.

The port of Nagasaki in Japan is worth visiting! The blue sea and blue sky are so beautiful! There are many birds flying on the sea, the dynamic and static scenes are combined, and the cruise ship is smart and moves on the sea. I recommend everyone to visit!

Located on the Nakajima River in Nagasaki City, it was designed by Chinese monk Ru Ding in 1634. It is a double-arch stone bridge. At the time of its construction, it was the only stone arch bridge in Japan, except for the Tennyu Bridge in the Ryukyu Kingdom at that time. It is lined up with 20 ancient bridges nearby, less than 100 meters apart, forming the "Nagasaki Stone Bridge Group". It was listed as an important cultural property of Japan in 1960 and is one of the three most famous bridges in Japan.

The three most recognized night views in the world are Victoria Harbor in Hong Kong, Hakodate in Japan, and Naples in Italy. In Japan, a new world's three major night views were selected in 2012, among which Hakodate in Japan became Nagasaki. The characteristics of this new world's three major night views (Nagasaki): huge coverage area, dotted with stars, "it seems like the Milky Way falling from the sky". Transportation: Take bus No. 3 or No. 5 at Nagasaki Station to the cable car station and buy a cable car ticket. It is recommended to buy a round-trip ticket, 1250 yen. There is a 3-story observation deck on the top of the mountain, and a coffee hall on the 1st floor, which are basically full. There is a toilet on B1. The top floor is an outdoor observation deck.

I cycled there, about 15 mins from the station. There are many art installations as well as the huge memorial. While I was there there was a s pool group, otherwise a restful place to contemplate the horror of what happened.

Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown is very small. It is not the kind of large area that everyone imagines, with the streets full of Chinese expatriates and Chinese stores. Maybe Chinatowns in Los Angeles or Bangkok have this feeling. Nagasaki is more like a Chinese-style food street and shopping street, not a very good tourist attraction.
