Kokusai-dori is a bustling street in downtown Naha, approx. 1.6 km long, lined with restaurants, general stores, drugstores, and souvenir shops. The street's name originates from the Kokusai Theater cinema opened after the war, and it gradually developed into a lively commercial street, earning it the nickname "Miracle Mile." You can see Shisa sculptures on the street, and various Okinawan specialty goods and traditional craft shops line the street, showcasing a distinct local flair. Visitors can purchase local specialties here such as Shisa figurines, Awamori, and brown sugar, or enjoy local dishes like Okinawa soba. Every Sunday, vehicle traffic is restricted on some sections of the street, making it convenient for pedestrians to stroll. The street also connects to covered shopping streets like Heiwa-dori, which are filled with shops selling traditional clothing, pottery, food, and local ingredients, continuing the daily commercial atmosphere of downtown Naha.Naha · 11.4 km from Nanjo

Naminoue Shrine is an iconic shrine in Naha, built atop a sea cliff formed of coral reef rock. The vermilion shrine hall and the deep blue sea contrast to create a striking view. The exact date of its founding is unknown. It is said to have been a sacred site where locals prayed to "Nirai Kanai," the divine kingdom beyond the sea, and later enshrined the Kumano Gongen deities. During the Ryukyu Kingdom period, this shrine was deeply revered by the royal government and ranked as the first of the eight Ryukyu shrines, long serving as a place of faith for praying for safe voyages, bountiful harvests, and national peace. The shrine hall retains architectural features such as a red-tiled roof, white walls, and vermilion pillars, while the stone lions at the entrance also reflect the Ryukyuan cultural style. Locals often affectionately call it "Nanmin-san." When visiting, you can climb the stone steps to the top of the cliff to enjoy the shrine architecture and coastal scenery. At Naminoue Beach next to the shrine, you can look up at the shrine hall on the cliff, which offers a different perspective.Naha · 12.8 km from Nanjo

Selong Island is located south of Naha Airport in Okinawa. It is an outlying island relatively close to the airport, so it is wonderful to be able to see the plane landing very close. Setagashima is the legendary hometown of the gods of the ancient Ryukyu Kingdom and is now a great place to enjoy beautiful sunsets. It only takes about 5 minutes to circle around. Although it is an island, it is covered with roads. It is a popular driving rest area among locals, and there are also facilities such as a game room and a batting stadium.Tomigusuku · 12.9 km from Nanjo

American Village is a coastal shopping and entertainment district themed after the American West Coast. It was developed on reclaimed land from a former US military airfield. In the early years, it gradually attracted American-style shops and restaurants to meet the needs of US military personnel and their families. Today, with its streets full of graffiti murals, neon signs, and vibrant retro architecture, it has become a destination for shopping and ocean views in central Okinawa. The bustling heart of the district is Depot Island, where colorful buildings, palm trees, and coastal boardwalks connect, providing photo opportunities everywhere. Nearby, American Depot is famous for its vintage clothing, military surplus, and imported goods, making it perfect for browsing. Dining options also have a strong American flair, with taco rice, burgers, steaks, and Blue Seal ice cream—which originated at local US military bases—all available. Entertainment facilities like cinemas and game centers are also interspersed throughout. Around dusk is an especially charming time for this district. Chatan Park, located on one side, features Chatan Park Sunset Beach, which faces the west coast and is a popular spot for watching the sunset; in summer, you can even swim there. After nightfall, the neon lights and decorations gradually light up, presenting two different atmospheres between day and night. It is worth noting that the large Ferris wheel that once appeared in many promotional photos has been dismantled, so there is no need to look for it.Chatan · 19.1 km from Nanjo

Its eye-catching symbol is the large Ferris wheel with a diameter of about 50 meters. The American Village has entertainment facilities mainly based on 3D images, an 8-screen movie theater, a shopping mall, a bowling alley, an American restaurant, a recording studio, an entertainment center, an imported grocery store, etc., and there are also complex facilities for sports.

Okinawa has two major shopping districts, Shintoshin and Kokusai-dori. Shintoshin is more oriented to local citizens. The must-visit shopping malls here include DFS Duty Free Shop, 3A Department Store, Apple Town, and Tenjiu City. The focus is on 3A Department Store. The mall has only two floors, but it is dazzling, with supermarkets, cosmetics, restaurants, etc., and the overall positioning is down-to-earth.
