Durmitor National Park

Durmitor National Park is located in northern Montenegro and is part of the limestone mountains of the Dinaric Alps. This mountain range was carved by glaciers and flowing water, with both surface rivers and underground rivers coexisting, and canyons and caves interspersed throughout. Dozens of peaks with an elevation of over 2,000 m rise from the alpine meadows and forests, among which Bobotov Kuk, with an elevation of over 2,500 m, is a popular route for mountaineering enthusiasts. The park also preserves vast old-growth European black pine forests, where trees hundreds of years old can grow to around 50 m. Various endemic plants grow in the forest, several of which are found only in this mountain region. The Ice Cave, famous for its icicles and ice stalagmites, as well as wildlife such as brown bears and golden eagles, are also worth visiting.Podgora · 25 km from Pljevlja

Đurđevića Tara Bridge is located in northern Montenegro, spanning the Tara River Canyon, on the mountain road between Zabljak and Mojkovac. Construction of this road bridge began in the late 1930s and was completed in 1940. It is over 300 m long, with five concrete arches supporting a bridge deck that stands over 100 m above the river. Looking down from the bridge, you can see nearly vertical cliffs and the rushing Tara River beneath your feet. The deepest part of the Tara River Canyon exceeds 1 km, making it a famous deep gorge in the Balkan Peninsula with rugged terrain. Đurđevića Tara Bridge is also widely known because of a film: during World War II, to block the advance of Italian forces, partisans, with the help of an engineer, blew up one of the bridge's arches. The engineer was later captured and killed on the bridge. This story was adapted into the 1969 Yugoslav film "The Bridge." The film was widely popular in China at the time, and its theme song, "Bella Ciao," is still widely sung today. Walking on the bridge today, you can still imagine the thrilling atmosphere depicted in the film.Bitine · 23.6 km from Pljevlja

Black Lake

Black Lake is located in Durmitor National Park in northern Montenegro. It is an alpine lake formed by glacial erosion, at an altitude of over 1,400 m, adjacent to the mountain town of Zabljak. Locals call this group of glacial lakes on the mountain the "Eyes of the Mountain," and Black Lake is one of the largest and most famous among them. Its name comes from the dense black pine forests surrounding it on all sides. Viewed from above, the dark forest sea embraces a pool of blue-green water, which is how the lake got its name. The lake is actually composed of two parts: the Big Lake and the Small Lake, connected in the middle by a narrow channel. When the water level drops in summer, the channel dries up, and the two bodies of water temporarily become separate sights. The small stone bridge spanning the channel has thus become a popular photo spot along the lake trail, and standing on the bridge, you can see both sides of the lake at once. When the wind is calm, the lake reflects the Bear Peak behind it, which stands at an altitude of over 2,000 m, accompanied by the dark pine reflections and the vibrant green water. It is especially beautiful in the early morning when the light is soft and there are few tourists.Pitomine · 31.6 km from Pljevlja

Budva Old Town

4.6/5
31 reviews
Budva Old Town has a continuous history of habitation spanning over 2,500 years, making it one of the oldest settlements along the Adriatic coast. From early Illyrian settlements and ancient Greek trading posts to the successive rule of Rome, Byzantium, and the Republic of Venice, the remnants of different civilizations are layered throughout the old town. The entire old town is surrounded by defensive stone walls, with beaches just outside, allowing sea breezes to drift into the stone alleys. The old town is compact, with narrow, cobblestone streets winding through it. Small squares occasionally open up from the alleys, with cafes and restaurants lined up under the arcades. The square enclosed by three churches is the heart of the old town: the bell tower of the Church of St. John is one of the tallest structures in the old town and can be seen from afar; the adjacent Church of St. Mary, built in the 9th century, is one of the oldest surviving churches on the eastern Adriatic coast; the Church of the Holy Trinity is distinguished by its pink and gray striped stone exterior walls. Walking to the citadel at the southern tip of the peninsula, you can climb the wall walkway to overlook St. Nicholas Island and the bays on both sides.Montenegro · Budva

Kotor Old Town Viewhas been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. The entire old town is surrounded by walls approximately 4.5 km long. The stone walls rise from the seaside, zigzagging up the steep mountain to reach the Castle of San Giovanni at an altitude of about 280 m, forming a complete defensive system. The walls were first built in the 9th century and have been continuously expanded over the following ten centuries, with some sections reaching up to 20 m in height. The old town is accessed through three gates, including the Sea Gate. Upon entering, the first thing that catches the eye is the Place d'Armes, where a clock tower built in 1602 stands, slightly tilted due to multiple earthquakes. Walking deeper along the cobblestone alleys, you will pass the Flour Square, the Karampana Fountain, and several palaces of noble families. The Cathedral of Saint Tryphon is the core landmark of the old town, with its solemn and striking Romanesque twin-bell tower facade. The Maritime Museum next to the cathedral tells the history of navigation in the bay from the 9th century to World War II. About halfway up the climb along the walls, there is also the Church of Our Lady of Remedy, which serves as a viewpoint for a mid-climb rest. From the top of the Castle of San Giovanni, you can overlook the red roofs of the entire old town and the panoramic view of the Bay of Kotor.Montenegro · Kotor
Sveti stefan
No. 3 of Best Things to Do in Montenegro

Sveti stefan

7.1
Sveti stefan is located on the Adriatic coast of Montenegro and is a small fortified island connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway. In the 15th century, the local Paštrovići tribe built a defensive settlement consisting of 12 stone houses on the island using captured spoils to resist Ottoman attacks, which subsequently developed into a fishing village with a population of approx. 400. In the mid-20th century, the island's residents gradually moved out, and the entire village was transformed into a resort, attracting celebrities such as Elizabeth Taylor and Sophia Loren. The entire island retains its traditional Mediterranean architectural style, with red-tiled stone houses layered along the hillside and winding stone alleys. There are 3 churches on the island, among which the Church of St. Stephen, built in the 12th century, is particularly striking and sits on the high point of the island. The beaches on both sides of the causeway between the island and the mainland have a unique pink hue due to the presence of coral fragments. Villa Miločer on the mainland side was built in 1936 as the summer residence of Queen Marija of Yugoslavia and is surrounded by extensive olive groves.Montenegro · Sveti Stefan

I rented a car from Tivat Airport and drove for three and a half hours on a mountain road just to see the Tara River Valley Bridge - the famous Yugoslav World War II classic movie "The Bridge", a classic memory of a generation. Walking on the bridge, I seemed to hear a familiar melody in my ears - Ah, my friend, goodbye! Ah, my friend, goodbye~ goodbye~ goodbye...

The Bay of Kotor, which ranks first on the list of places to spend the summer in Biella, is the shining pearl of the Adriatic Sea! A beautiful bay that you can encounter for free, with a score of 4.7 and 38 reviews, is definitely popular~ The mountains on both sides of the bay are lush, and the towns on the shore are scattered. The sea water is clear and blue. Take a boat cruise or walk along the coast, feel the sea breeze, and see the snow-capped mountains and the blue sea in the distance blend together. The scenery is so beautiful that it is breathtaking. The romance and grandeur of Montenegro are fully displayed here. It is a bay feast that you must check in when you come to Montenegro~
