Pilsenis located in the western part of the Czech Republic, on the road from Prague to Bavaria, and is the fourth-largest city in the Czech Republic. What truly makes it world-famous is beer: the Pilsner beer found all over the world today takes its name directly from this city. In 1842, local brewers here created a golden, clear, bottom-fermented lager, a style that was subsequently emulated by breweries around the world and became the model for golden lagers. The original brewery is still operating on its original site today. During a visit, you can walk through the old brewing hall and the deep underground cellars, and at the end, you can even taste a glass of unfiltered raw beer. At the center of Pilsner Place is a modern fountain, the T-shaped golden fountain inspired by the city coat of arms of Pilsner, creating a contrast between the old and new buildings with their red roofs.
