Starting from Valletta, the sightseeing minibus drove along the coastline of the northern edge of Malta for an hour before reaching the cruise terminal at the west end. After a 20-minute voyage, we boarded Gozo Island. The first stop we visited was the Temple of Gigantes, which is the oldest free-standing monument in the world. It was built between 3600-3200 BC, proving that people had lived on Gozo Island at least 1,000 years before the construction of the famous Egyptian pyramids of Giza. The megalithic temple, which consists of two temples, is surrounded by a huge boundary wall.
