It is the oldest bridge still in use in Australia. The bridge was built by convict laborers and completed in 1825. It was originally named Bigg Bridge, named after Royal Commissioner John Bigg. The raw material of Richmond Bridge is sandstone from the Butchers Hill Quarry, which was transported to the construction site by prisoners using carts. The bridge has four large arches and two small arches, all designed according to the characteristics of water flow.

The Contemporary Art Island is worth a day trip. It was founded by a famous Australian tycoon. It takes 30 minutes to reach the Art Island by taking a dedicated ferry from the main island of Hobart. A very nice suburb to walk around and learn about the history of Hobart. Walking at Battery Point is like go back in time, wide collection of gorgeous historic architect, beutiful garden and lovely view of the pier at the heart of Hobart.
