The Triumphal Arch
Bucharest, Romania's The Triumphal Arch is a monument symbolizing national unity and historical victory. This arch was built in 1922 to commemorate the country's unification after World War I, originally as a temporary wooden structure. The Council Square
The Council Square is located in the heart of the Old Town, and it has been the site of an annual market for local and foreign merchants since 1364. The buildings surrounding the square tell a rich history. In the center of the square stands a pillory, once used for public humiliation, punishment, and scorn. Witches were punished here, and Stefan Stenert, the head of the shoemakers' guild who opposed the entry of Austrian troops into Brasov, was also beheaded here in 1688. My first visit to Romania was truly enchanting, and it all began at the Triumphal Arch in Bucharest. This majestic monument, with its intricate architecture and rich history, left me in awe. Walking beneath the arch, I felt a sense of grandeur and heritage that's hard to put into words. The beautifully landscaped surroundings added to the charm.
