Mt. Hakodate Ropeway - Mountain Base Station

The Hakodateyama Ropeway is a popular mode of transportation that offers easy access to Mount Hakodate, one of Hakodate's most iconic scenic spots. It takes approximately 3 minutes to reach the summit of Mount Hakodate, which is 334 meters above sea level, and from the large windows you can enjoy beautiful views of the city of Hakodate, the Tsugaru Strait, and the surrounding mountains. The biggest attraction is the night view of Hakodate, which is said to be one of the world's three greatest night views. From the mountaintop, the lights of the city spread out across the unique topography, sandwiched between the sea on both sides, creating a fantastical scene like scattered jewels. The time from sunset to nightfall is especially popular with tourists and couples, as the sky gradually changes color, creating a romantic atmosphere different from that of the daytime. The daytime view is also spectacular, offering an expansive panorama that stretches across Hakodate city, Goryokaku Fort, and even the distant mountain range. Its charm lies in the different scenery it displays with each season; you can enjoy the refreshing greenery of spring and summer, the vibrant autumn foliage, and the snowy landscape of winter. The mountaintop boasts not only an observation deck but also a variety of restaurants, cafes, and souvenir shops, allowing visitors to enjoy meals and shopping while taking in the scenery. Furthermore, an indoor observation space is available for enjoying the night view more comfortably, making it a convenient option regardless of the season or weather. Access is easy, as you can reach the ropeway base station by streetcar or bus, making it a convenient stop during sightseeing. As a must-see classic spot for Hakodate sightseeing, it's a place where you can experience new delights no matter how many times you visit, as well as first-time visitors. The Hakodateyama Ropeway is more than just a means of transportation; it offers a special experience where you can enjoy breathtaking views from the journey to the summit. When you visit Hakodate, why not spend a memorable time enjoying its beautiful scenery?Hakodate · 38.7 km from Sai

Definitely choose this over the rope way. Half the price and much better view and ambience. Went around 2pm and the crowds were small. There's two levels of 360 degree viewing area and some historical things to learn.

We arrived at Goryokaku Tower in the afternoon after driving from Lake Toya. The crowds were quite heavy, so we decided to have lunch first at the legendary local favourite, Lucky Pierrot Burger, just across the street.Redeeming our pre-purchased ticket voucher at the counter was straightforward, and despite the large number of visitors, we managed to board the elevator and make our way up to the observation deck without any hassle. At the top, we were rewarded with a stunning 360-degree panoramic view of Hakodate. We enjoyed admiring the beautiful cityscape from above and spent some time taking photographs. To our delight, we were also treated to the sight of a rainbow, which made the visit even more memorable. We spent approximately two hours enjoying the views and taking photographs before heading down. Overall, it was a pleasant and relaxing experience, and a great way to appreciate Hakodate from above before proceeding to explore the nearby Goryokaku Star Fort.

Spend a sweet afternoon at Sapporo's Shiroi Koibito (White Lover) restaurant. Listen to chocolate stories, play interactive games, watch how chocolate cookies are made, and most interestingly, try your hand at painting a giant cookie! At 5:00 PM, the magical clock tower puppet show and dreamy bubble performance take place in the enchanting fairytale garden. The European-style castle is incredibly romantic under the autumn sunset, creating a truly Halloween atmosphere. We highly recommend taking some photos with the pumpkins!
