Conimbriga Ruins is located in the town of Condeixa-a-Nova near Coimbra in central Portugal, approx. 16 km from Coimbra. It is a representative ancient Roman city-state relic on the Iberian Peninsula. As early as the BC era, this was a Celtic settlement, later developed by the Romans into a prosperous city of the Lusitania province, featuring a forum, public baths, an amphitheater, noble residences, city walls, and an aqueduct. The site's highlight is the House of Fountains, where well-preserved colorful Roman mosaics depicting mythology, hunting scenes, and geometric patterns remain intact under a protective canopy. The Cantaber residence is equally grand, showcasing restored Roman noble courtyards, cisterns, and heating systems. The thematic museum displays numerous locally excavated pottery, sculptures, and gold/silver artifacts, recreating daily life in ancient Rome.
